Teacher March on Raliegh
- Dr Mauney, sent the following email to all MGSD staff. if you have any questions about how this impacts you please come and speak to Ms. Robinson. I am available to answer any questions. Thanks.
- MGSD:
- In order to participate in the Rally, which is happening on a regular school day, you will need to request either a "Personal Day" or a "Day Without Pay" for your leave. Leave forms are located in your school office and must be submitted to your principal for approval.
- Sick Leave cannot be taken on this day if you are participating in the Rally. If you are absent on May 16th and take sick leave, a doctor's note will be required upon your return to work. If a doctor's note is not submitted, a Day Without Pay will be used to cover your absence.
- Principals will approve requests for leave once coverage for your absence has been confirmed. If no coverage for your absence is available, your request for leave will not be approved.
- To help our district support you in this effort and to adequately plan for our reduction in staff on Rally Day, I request that you submit your requests for leave to your principals NO LATER THAN the end of the school day on Wednesday - May 2nd. Please understand that this is not to deter you from attending the rally. Rather, it is to provide your administration with enough time to develop coverage plans to maintain adequate supervision at each of our schools on that day.
- Also, I know that this is an important instructional day that is especially close to the end of the school year. I want to be sure that we all respect the wishes of those who do not choose to participate and who will remain in our schools with our students.
MAY 16, 2018
I know that an increasing number of you are planning to participate in or are considering participation in the NCAE Rally on Wednesday - May 16th - in Raleigh. I want to be clear that I, along with our district administration, support you in this call to action if you choose to participate. With that being said, I want to be sure that you understand the important things that need to happen if you plan to participate. Please read the following information closely.
