Sharing the Homeschool Heart

This is an exciting week for many of us. Tuesday is the first day of fall! After many months of quarantine and the isolation that accompanied it, experiencing the hottest August on record, as well as the largest wildfire season in California history, and then there’s the intensity of politics and national issues. Oh yes, and the start of the school year, which can be stressful for many, as families adjust to new schedules and rhythms. Phew, that is a lot!

I think it’s time for a new “season” in all aspects of the word. A great start might be to celebrate the first day of fall. This is a great day to restore balance in your home because night and day are approximately the same lengths (balanced!). You can do so by cleaning and organizing your home, as well as solidifying a schedule, routine, or rhythm for your family’s day. Children thrive on regular household rhythms and routines, as do many of us. This is also known as a time of harvest, which is something to be thankful for; thus, this is a great week to focus on the things we are grateful for. Start a list of things you and your family members are thankful for and add to this list as the season proceeds. Eat a fall harvest meal. You don’t have to wait until Thanksgiving to indulge in the comfort foods that come with this time of year. Join together as a family to dress up the table, make decorations, and cook together. Consider a fall-inspired week of learning. Pinterest has a plethora of ideas and ways to add an autumnal flair to the subjects you want your children to learn, from math and STEM Projects to read-alouds, journal prompts, and science experiments.

May the start of this season be a rejuvenating reset, sparking new energy and life into your home and homeschool.

The July competition was international with participants all over the world submitting their work via video due to Covid-19. Sarah continues to work hard in her karate class and will move up belt rank come the end of September. Her next competition is in October and will again be virtual.

Audrey Everson

Hi everyone! I am a mom of 3 awesome kids ranging in age from 12 to 8 years old. My husband and I are high school sweethearts and have been married for 17 years. Having homeschooled our children over the last 8 years in 3 different states, I've found homeschooling here in California, especially with Mission Vista Academy, has been a great fit for our homeschool journey. I am grateful for our ability to homeschool so freely and I aspire to assist other families with their own homeschool adventures!

Robi Frederick

Hi there! I am a mom of two girls, 10 and 11 years old, and have been homeschooling from the start. I am also the wife of a very supportive hubby of almost 14 years. We are raising our children in the Coachella Valley and excited to see how the homeschooling community has grown in our area, as well as the resources. I am very grateful that I have this opportunity to homeschool my children. I love to help and encourage families and assist in building our homeschooling resources in the Desert Area.

Andrea Hart

Hello! My name is Andrea Hart, and I am a homeschooling momma of two beautiful girls. I'm here to help encourage, guide, and answer any question you may have! I can’t wait to connect with you.

We want to hear from you!

What do you want to hear more about? Drop us an email!

We'd love to answer all of your questions in regards to homeschooling
