Big picture

March Madness

It is hard to believe that we are now back to the month of March! When you think back over the last 12 months, think about the wins. Maybe you started doing virtual book clubs or you collaborated with teachers in ways you hadn't considered before the pandemic. Maybe you created a virtual library space and worked with students to become more familiar with digital resources. Whatever these successes might look like, pat yourself on the back and be proud! You persevered, pushed through challenges, and made things happen! Wishing you a Spring Break full of rest, relaxation, and good books.

TexQuest Resources

Britannica Fundamentals

Have you shared this resource with your PK-2 teachers and students? Formerly known as Learning Zone, this updated resource offers opportunities for students to READ, EXPLORE, PLAY & CREATE. This fun and engaging website is a great resource to share with families and to include in summer learning lists. Check it out if you haven't already!

*TexQuest Resources are provided to our ESC Region 11 districts through the Instructional Solutions & Support contract.

Gale in Context: High School

March is Women's History Month, and Gale in Context has a plethora of resources for students and teachers. Encourage students to explore the portal to find articles, primary sources, videos, and more. This is a great starting point for research projects or student inquiry.

In addition, take a look at Gale Tools for Success for extra support for the Gale resources.

TexQuest Resources to Support Remote Learning

TexQuest provides access to authoritative digital resources for educators, students, and students' immediate families in Texas K-12 public schools and open-enrollment charter schools. Using the TexQuest Navigator, students can access all resources with a single login. These resources serve as the perfect tools for supporting your students in a variety of learning environments.

To increase usage, consider having multiple access points for your users. If you are a Destiny district, these resources can be added to One Search and set to show in Destiny Discover.

If you need support or are unsure of your login, please email

Discovery Education

Women's History Month Resources from Discovery Ed

Discovery Education has several interesting resources to support Women's History Month! The first one is the Women's History Channel, with a variety of videos, slide shows, and activities. If your students have not yet seen Amanda Gorman's Inauguration Day poem, you can find it here! Like all of the DE Channels, this one has resources separated by grade level to make it even easier for teachers and students.

In the Women's History channel, you will also find Encyclopedia Womannica, a podcast series from Wonder Media Network, that includes bite-sized audio biographies of women who have had an impact on our world, including scientists, activists, actors, teachers, poets, philosophers, scholars, politicians, comedians, and more.

#ESC11Librarians Are Doing AWESOME Things!

Don't forget to share the awesome things you are doing in the library and in your community. Remember to tag #esc11librarians so we can all learn from and celebrate with each other. Also, remember to promote your library program on the first day of each month for the #TxASL "Did You Know School Libraries..." monthly Twitter share.

Technology Resources Education Consortium

In addition to serving librarians in Region 11, our service center also manages a state-wide consortium for Destiny Library and Resource Manager. Through a partnership with Follett, we host services for more than 140 districts across the state. Benefits for our members include hosted services, ongoing training and support, access to an eBook catalog and more.

Many of our Region 11 districts are already TREC members, but if your district is not and you are interested in learning more about TREC, you can take a look at the TREC website. If you have questions or would like a cost estimate of joining TREC, email
