"Home of the Eagles"
May 18, 2016 - A Spring To Remember Continues
Yesterday our incredible and successful Spring continues for our athletes and their coaches.
The Girls Track and Field Teams began competition at the District at Oak Harbor and they have gotten off to a great start. The following athletes have already qualified to the regional track and field meet next week at Lexington. The 4x800 meter relay of Hannah Sponaugle, Maggie Cochrane, Riley Corns, and Sarah Bettinger. Allie Abke and Jessica Lang qualified in the pole vault while Katelyn Meyer and Bri Hoodlebrink qualified in the long jump. Many athletes qualified for the finals that will be run on Friday night. Congratulations to them and good luck to them on Friday as more athletes will attempt to qualify to the Regionals! I encourage you to come to Oak Harbor on Friday to cheer them on in their efforts!
The Varsity Baseball Team continues to move forward in their quest for a conference championship as they defeated Elmwood last night 3-1 in a key NBC conference game. It was another great display of pitching and defense and offensively taking advantage of their opportunities to now put themselves at 18-4 overall and 9-3 in the conference. They will continue their journey towards a conference championship by traveling to Fostoria tonight in their next to last conference game. Then tomorrow night (May 19) they will compete in the District Semi-Finals at Carter Park in Bowling Green in a 4:30 game against Woodmore. This is an OHSAA tournament event so tickets will be $6 for adults and $4 for students at the gate. This is an exciting time for the Eastwood Baseball program so come out and support them in their title run!
Tonight our undefeated Varsity Softball team will compete in the District Semi-Final at Rolf Park in Maumee at 5pm versus Evergreen HS. This is an OHSAA tournament event so tickets will be $6 for adults and $4 for students at the gate. They then will finish up their NBC conference schedule by traveling to Fostoria on Thursday night and host Lake on Monday, May 23rd. The Girls currently stand at 21-0 overall and 11-0 in the conference. The weather is going to be great tonight so come on out and support these young ladies as they will continue to try to advance up the tournament road!
Tomorrow our Boys Track team will begin District competition as they will travel to Gibsonburg starting at 4pm. They are fresh coming off their 16th straight NBC Championship and attempting to advance in higher level competition so come on out to Gibsonburg on Thursday to support their efforts. They will finish up District competition on Saturday starting at 10am.
This has been a historic Spring so far and the best is yet to come. I hope that you can find the time and opportunity to come out to one or many of these upcoming competitions to support our Eagle student/athletes. They are putting on great performances this Spring and would appreciate your support!
