A Note from The Principal
What a remarkable year it has been so far and we are here to embrace what the future holds. Please join me in giving a huge shout out to teachers; they have been remarkable these first months of school and have been working relentlessly to ensure your student has the best possible experience for this school year. Our teachers are phenomenal and I am truly humbled to work alongside them.
We are heading into the holiday months with Thanksgiving and Christmas right around the corner. Please take some time to relax and celebrate with your child all the learning and growth they have made so far this year.
K/1 Miss Wampler
We have been learning how to ask and answer questions in reading. Our class was able to have the rest of the school ask us questions about giraffes, then we got to be the experts and answer them. K/1 has also been enjoying their art time while painting turkeys for Thanksgiving!
2/3 Mrs. Graham
Happy November! It seems like this month came and went in the blink of an eye. In math for 3rd grade, we wrapped up our unit on multiplying and dividing and will be starting to learn about how to find the area of an object. 2nd grade continues to work on their unit of counting money and solving money word problems. In reading we are focusing hard on really understanding what we are reading and applying our understanding to be able to answer questions about the reading.
Both grades also started grammar units this month, learning what subjects and predicates are and how to find them in a sentence. For social studies, we are learning about government and democracy with some fun, hands-on learning activities.
I hope you all have a wonderful and relaxing Thanksgiving break! See you all in December!
4/5 Mrs. Pearson
After watching an account of the events that led up to the first Thanksgiving, we began writing diary entries from the point of view of a Puritan child aboard the Mayflower. I'm impressed with their creativity and inclusion of many relevant facts in their fictional narratives.
In Language Arts we have been learning how to use conjunctions to combine independent clauses and where the comma should be placed. We are also refining our ability to punctuate dialogue.
In reading intervention, the students in novel groups finished "The One and Only Ivan" and we are now getting in the Christmas mood reading "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever"!
BES Christmas Program will be Held Virtually in December
Holiday Program Update
Due to coronavirus Stage 3 restrictions, all Bruneau Elementary, Grand View Elementary and Rimrock holiday concerts will be held virtually. We will be recording the students’ performances in the music classroom during the second week of December, and digital files of the completed videos will be shared with students and families on Tuesday, December 15.
If we are in Stage 4 by Thanksgiving Break (November 20, 2020) concerts will be held live in person. If we do have in-person concerts, Bruneau Elementary’s will be on Tuesday, December 8 at 7:00 pm at the Rimrock auditorium, Grand View Elementary’s will be on Thursday, December 10 at 7:00 pm at the Rimrock auditorium, and the Rimrock band concert will be on Tuesday, December 15 at 7:00 pm at Rimrock.
Thank you for your understanding and flexibility during these uncertain times.
