Article 1 (Smoking)
Studies are showing that smoking is becoming more bad for health than ever before and more people are dying from it too.
"About 42 million Americans smoke--15% of woman and 21% of men according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention." Don't you think that is a lot of americans smoking? Do you think it should stop? Well I think it is too many americans smoking and it should stop because those people who decide to do it are hurting themselves, their families, and friends. Also they can decide if they would like a life with cancer ore some kind of disease from deciding to smoke.
"A new study says that five diseases and 60,000 deaths a year are taken by tobacco in the United States" That is not right for that much people to die over deciding to smoke especially in the U.S. When you choose to smoke your choosing to die faster by taking in the bad chemicals and cancer causing diseases.
"Before the study, smoking was already blamed for nearly half a million deaths a year in this country from 21 diseases, including 12 types of cancer." If you ever think of smoking let me tell you this, just remember of having fun with your family or something good in your life that happened and then think of what would happened if you smoked and how it could hurt you, your family, friends, and how it would change your life.

"Smoking also drains our fragile economy of some $193 billion dollars a year." The more we buy cigarettes the more money the government is using to get more of it.
"Smoking is the leading preventable cause of death in the United States." If we get rid of cigarettes/nicotine we wouldn't have so many deaths in the United States.
"By explaining that the risks of smoking rise with increasing pack-year exposure, doctors may have encouraged the belief that light smoking is minimally hazardous or even safe." It doesn't matter how much you smoke it's the fact that it is happening you are still taking in the harmful chemicals and nicotine that cause cancer and diseases.
