Message from Mr Byers

Kia ora tatou,

With this being the last newsletter of the term, I would like to say a huge thank you for your support and cooperation over the term. Again it has been a disruptive term with uncertainty about where this pandemic is taking us. Fingers crossed we continue to see cases decrease across the country and we see some resemblance of normality.

Throughout the term I have taken great pride in the way students have coped with their learning during uncertain times. I am proud of what the students have achieved both at school and via distance learning. The growing percentage of students physically back at school is encouraging and it will be great to have all students back for the start of Term 2.

I would like to thank the wonderful Stanley Avenue staff for their efforts and displaying amazing Manaakitanga (Team Player skills) in order to give our Stanley Ave learners the best we could during the weeks when our staff were hit the hardest.

We are fortunate to have three days left next week, and I know lots of classrooms are preparing for ANZAC learning. Next Wednesday we will be holding our own ANZAC Day Service for the whole school. Unfortunately due to current MOE restrictions members of the public will not be able to attend.

My wish is that during some point in Term 2 we will be able to open the school gates to you all. If I don’t see you next week I look forward to reconnecting with you when I am back from my Sabattical Leave at the beginning of Term 3.

EPRO8 2022

Check out the videos of the classroom competition for EPRO8 last week and the winning teams below. Well done to our budding engineers and inventors and a big thankyou to Mrs Harrison for her dedication to make this happen at Stanley Ave.

The Juicy Shop

Next TUESDAY, 12th April we will be selling the last of our Juicies and Moosies for the term. We are selling the last of our stock, so some flavour choices are limited.

We will not be doing pre-orders, so if you would like a Juicy or Moosie bring your money on TUESDAY, and we will be selling them at lunchtime.

Thank you to our school community for your support with this fundraising activity! Next term we will be doing Winter Olympics Fundraising so keep watching the newsletter for details.

Help......Team Ruru need clean bottle caps!!!

We are going to be producing some wonderful art work later in the year that involves bottle caps. If you have any milk bottle, fizzy drink bottle, any plastic bottle caps of any size and colour, we would appreciate it if you could send these in to the school office. Please get the word out...we are wanting hundreds of bottle caps if we can.

A big THANK YOU from Team RURU

There was a very Hungry Caterpillar in Room 11!!!!

Last week, Mrs Trebes and Room 11 read the ever popular story 'The Hungry caterpillar' by Eric Carle (which has been around since 1969) and then created this beautiful, bold and bright mural showing all the food items the caterpillar ate. Ka Pai Room 11.
