Wittmann Elementary Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month
The Diaz/Nadalin family helped celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at Wittmann Elementary School by sharing their stories and traditions with students. The entire family, from grandparents to children, discussed the story of migrating to the United States and shared information about food, music, and island customs. Thank you to the Diaz/Nadalin family for sharing their story.
Filipino American History Month
October is Filipino American History Month, celebrating the contributions of Filipino Americans in shaping our country. The first recorded presence of Filipinos in the continental United States was in October of 1587, when members of a Spanish galleon landed in what is now Morro Bay, California. Today, Filipino Americans are the second largest Asian American group in the nation and the third largest ethnic group in California.

She asked about the bus and was told the railroad owner was a collector and bought it from California. She proudly told him it was from the District where she works.
