PRE-K WEEKLY NEWSLETTER

This week in Pre-K...

Dear Parents,

I hope you are having a wonderful Monday. Thank you all for taking time out of your busy schedules to meet with me last week. I very much enjoyed meeting all of you.

I would like to give you an overview of what we will be working on this week in Pre-K. In Math, we are learning about shapes. This week’s shape is a square and we will find as many squares as we can throughout our classroom. In Social Studies, we are learning about community workers. The students will be coloring and decorating a stick-figure puppet of a community worker such as, a firefighter, police officer, or a doctor. We will present these puppets in a skit. In Science, we are learning about the life cycle of a frog. We will take a mini field trip to the pond in front of the school to observe the tadpoles.

In our "Spotlight Subject of the Week", Language Arts, we will be focusing on rhyming words. We will be playing a group game where students will be identifying rhyming words, then the students will be working together to match rhyming words. The students will also get to draw picture of the rhyming words they have learned.

I have asked the students to find two words that rhyme at home and bring them in by Friday. We are looking to see how many different rhyming words we can find. We will be putting them up around the classroom. If you could help your child with this activity, we would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you and have a wonderful week!

Sincerely,

Ms. Brooks
