The administration team at New Hope Elementary will soon begin building class rosters for the 2023-24 school year. We take great care to provide the best possible environment for all children to learn and succeed. However, if you believe your student has specific learning needs or unique considerations that should be brought to our attention, please complete this OPTIONAL form by FRIDAY, March 17th. No late forms will be accepted.

Examples of appropriate feedback include separating one or two friends, personal or family challenges, and student behaviors.

LOCAL SCHOOL COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVES NEEDED

As we begin planning for the 2023-2024 school year, we will be forming our very first Local School Council (LSC). The LSC is designed to bring parents and the community together with teachers and school administrators to foster mutual respect for each other’s concerns and share ideas for school improvement.

We are currently seeking nominations for parent representatives to attend meetings and serve on our LSC. The LSC at New Hope will meet four times a year. Elected members typically serve a two-year term and may run for re-election once, thus serving a maximum of four years on the council. However, for our first year in existence we will be looking for both one-year and two-year terms for each parent representative position to ensure board consistency at re-election years. Parent representatives on the school council shall be elected by, and from among, the group they represent. Employees in the school who are also parents or guardians of students enrolled in the school are excluded from serving as parent representatives.

If you are interested in serving as a parent representative on the New Hope LSC, please submit this form including a short biography that will provide information about yourself and why you would like to serve on the LSC. All nominations are due Friday, February 24th.

For more information about Local School Councils, please visit the Forsyth County School System’s website at: https://www.forsyth.k12.ga.us/page/326.

Lost & Found

Notes from Nurse G

We are in the middle of winter, which means it is cold season! I know our little Nighthawks can wake up not feeling well, making it hard to decide if they are well enough to go to school. On the school nurse page of New Hope’s website, there is a section titled “Is your child too sick for school?” to help you answer those questions. A link to the page is also located here.

If your child has a health condition, new or old, that may require additional support while he/she is at school please make sure all necessary healthcare action plans have been completed and brought to school. You will find all required forms on the school nurse page of the New Hope website or by clicking here. Please have these completely filled out and returned to me as soon as possible so that we may make sure your child receives the continuity of care that he/she deserves.

Please be aware that any medication brought to the school should be done by the parent/guardian as no student is permitted to carry medication to or from school. That includes cough drops, sunscreen, flonase, and/or any other over the counter medication.

If your student requires medication to be kept at school, a Request for Administration of Medication form (1 for each medication) must also be completed. If your child has a condition that does not fall into a specific form please use the Individual Health Care Plan. Additionally, please note most forms require both a physician’s signature and the parent/guardian’s.

Please make sure your student, especially our older grades, has a change of clothes in their backpack. We often have students who have fallen in the mud, spilled a drink on themselves, had a nosebleed or have had an accident and are requesting a change of clothes. The clinic has a very small number of long sleeve shirts and pants, and most sizes are 5-7. Please consider donating outgrown clothing to the New Hope Clinic.

As always, thank you for your support!

Spring Break Day Trip, Anyone?

Some of the events include a veterinary student Q&A panel, a dog petting booth, a “reading to dogs” station, face painting, Veterinary Teaching Hospital tours, “teddy bear surgery,” and a UGA CVM merchandise sale, among many other fun-filled events! There will also be guest appearances from the beloved mascot Uga, as well as Hairy Dawg (10-11am)! Although this is a free event, they recommend bringing around $10 to $20 in cash for food and drinks.

Partner in Education Program

We are so thankful for the local businesses who have joined our Partner in Education program.
