Take-A-Book/Leave-A-Book

It's time for news from the library. We'll make it quick as we know you have a lot of studying to do. Make sure you see when we're open over the two weeks of finals. We're also open reduced hours over break.

As finals approach, you'll see an increase in students using the library. Please re-read the study room policies so we can try to make the best possible studying experience for everyone.

You can come to the library if you need help with papers and/or citations. Finally, if you didn't know, the take-a-book/leave-a-book section has moved away from the journals and onto a shelf next to the library classroom. Learn more about it.

Good luck on your finals and we'll see you in the summer!

Quiet Study & Study Rooms

Study Rooms

Study Rooms: Remember, there is a two-hour limit per person. You may sign up for additional time only after your two hours are close to being up, and no one has signed up for the room after you. The sign-up sheet for finals is in the blue folder near the library worker.

In addition, while snacks are okay in the rooms, larger meals are not. Not only does it sometimes create a mess, but the trash can stink up a room that may not be cleaned for a day or two, as is the case during holidays and weekends.

Breaks are good, so step outside, eat and go back to studying.

Just a reminder...

The library has the acoustics of a cathedral. Conversations held at a "normal voice" level get amplified. This is especially true when more and more people enter the space.

As people pour into the library to study for finals, please be extra mindful of the volume of your voice. Even "normal voice" levels can sound loud.

So far, we think you've been doing a great job during the busier days, so please keep it up.

Quiet Devices

Don't forget, we have noise-quieting headphones and earplugs at the front desk.

Writing Lab

If you'd like some help with that paper, please contact the writing lab.

We offer:

  • Assistance in developing the format of your paper.
  • Reading over your paper to make sure it flows and to catch recurring errors.
  • We do not, however, fully proofread or edit your paper.
  • Please make an appointment in advance. Drop-in hours are limited to the evenings and the off chance someone might be available during the day. Email library@nwhealth.edu for availability.

Looking for a Summer Beach Read?

Spring break and summer are coming soon. If you'd like to pick up a fun book to read during your study breaks, whether or not those breaks are at the beach, check out our Take-A-Book/Leave-A-Book shelf. You can find it next to the door to the library classroom.

It's simple. Browse the books we have available and take one you'd like to read. Bring it back when you're done. There's no need to check it out. You can also bring a book you've already finished and place it on the shelf for others to enjoy. Let us know if you have any questions.
