SMGCS Weekly SMORE

Week of September 4th - 8th

Thank you for the precious gifts.

This summer a loving group of SMG parishioners gathered to assemble rosaries for our entire school to use and pray with while attending SMGCS. What a blessing this gift of grace and service will be to our students!!

Mrs. Pierce's Principal Message

My fellow Trojans,

It is hard to believe we have been in school for one month. Time flies when we are having fun! This week, band begins on Tuesday, and on Saturday volleyball games will commence. Go Trojans!

I thank you for your patience with us regarding the Renweb service. The provider has had difficulty, and they hope to have it working soon. Unfortunately the problem has prevented teachers from entering grades in the online grade book program. The teachers have been keeping a handwritten report of grades for your student. If your child is having academic difficulties, the teachers will be sending out a notice.

Unfortunately with a heavy heart, Ms. Alvarez will not be able to continue as our librarian. Please pray for her and her family during this difficult time. However, please welcome Mrs. Peña to our SMG family. She will be our new library manager and is eager to share her passion for books and media.

The gospel today reminds us that we have been anointed with chrism at our baptism to serve others, especially to those who are poor. We are the missionaries to bring hope and comfort to those who go without. Our prayers can release those who are persecuted and troubled. We are encouraged to bring the light of Christ to others through service. I am so proud of our National Junior Honor Society Members who planned and coordinated a bake sale to raise funds for those affected by Hurricane Harvey. They truly embody the spirit of service to others. Please join me in praying for those affected by Hurricane Harvey. Cardinal Daniel DiNardo of Galveston-Houston said, "I think we have to wake up Jesus in the boat! ... Pray real hard!"

Have a blessed week!

Mrs. Pierce

Prayers Needed

Join us in lifting up Holy Trinity Catholic School during a difficult time of loss. Their school President passed away last week. We will keep the school family and the family members of Mrs. Arlene Anderson Jones in our prayers going forward this week.
