April 21st: Remote Learning, Honoring Volunteers & Seniors
Dear Parents/Caregivers, Students and Staff:
Governor Justice announced today that he will not reopen school buildings for the remainder of the school year. I recognize and understand that this was not an easy decision for him, and know that he did so with the best interest of our students, staff and their families in mind.
I want you to know that the board of education, district leadership, and all school staff remain committed to remote learning, providing child nutrition services, and monitoring the health, safety and well being of our students and staff.
For our seniors, you will be celebrated. I have heard you and your peers express your desire for a summer commencement celebration. I ask for your continued patience as we work through the opportuities that may be made available to us for this once in a lifetime milestone.
While this communication to you may be brief, it comes to you with our ongoing commitment and dedication to our students, families and staff of Berkeley County Schools. I will be meeting with school administration and leadership teams to provide more information to you as we progress through this announced extension of school closures.
Be well, stay safe.
Patrick K. Murphy, Superintendent of Schools
