Gold/Yellow Day in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and we would like to honor children everywhere by wearing the color Gold/Yellow on Friday, September 27th. You can also bring in one dollar (or more) to donate to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital on this special day. This is a very important cause to our Titan community as one of our own 4th grade students was recently diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and is currently receiving treatment at St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Let’s Light it Up Gold to raise awareness and show our support!
At home you can also upload pictures of you or your family wearing gold and post to our school website or our Twitter Account @tegacaytitans.
Movie Night, Friday, September 27
From the PTO:
Movie Night is just 2 weeks away - Friday, September 27th!! We need volunteers to help with set up, sales, and clean up. It’s split into 2 shifts, but if like many of us, you will be there all night, feel free to sign up for both and hang out with your awesome PTO! Thank you for your help!
WHO ARE WE?!? Launch of our new Vision, Mission, and Core Values
Prior to the start of the school year, Mrs. Wagner, Mrs. Lucas & Mr. Hartley revealed their vision for Tega Cay Elementary School. Using this as a foundation, our titan staff worked diligently to map out the path we would take towards continued excellence as a school community. Brainstorming in a variety of groups, we had deep discussions to identify where we are as a school and where we want to be in the future. Based on their efforts, they were able to reflect and come to a consensus on Tega Cay Elementary School’s new mission and core beliefs.
Students, staff, and community will strive to be knowledge seekers and problem solvers in an environment that supports inquiry and risk-taking, while respecting the fundamental values and uniqueness of all individuals.
challenge Excellence, and
maintain a Student-Driven focus
TCES Core Values:
Morning Drop Off in the Car Rider Line:
Our academic start time begins at 7:35. Some suggestions for expediting our car line are the following:
Do not get out of your car in the car line. If your child needs assistance getting out, please pull to the end of the line where a faculty member will be there to assist.
Please pull all the way down in the line and do not stop half way to let your students out of the car.
Please note that there is not an adult on duty in the mornings until 7:05. Because of this, children should not be dropped off at school through the car rider line prior to this time.
Your child should be prepared (with book bag and lunchbox ready to go) to get out of the car when the car stops.
We have noticed an increased number of cars getting to school between 7:25 and 7:35.Please consider arriving earlier as the traffic in the car rider line from 7:10-7:20 is sparse. Our instructional day begins at 7:35 and students are considered tardy if they arrive after 7:35. If we could get about 50 more cars to drop off between 7:10 and 7:20, we think that we would notice a decrease in the congestion later in the line. If you are able to get into our car line five to ten minutes earlier, we would greatly appreciate it.
Remember, if your child is not in the building by 7:35, you are supposed to park and sign your child in at the office. Our School Resource Officer is working to have you do this. Please be respectful of her as she is there to help.
Please make sure that you are having your children exit on the passenger side of your car. If you have something blocking the passenger door, please consider moving this so your child can exit with ease. Some people get impatient and pass cars in the car rider line and it is dangerous. Parents should not be getting out of the cars to help their students get out of the car.
You should not switch lanes because you think one is going faster than the other.
Thanks you for working to get here on time so that your children are on time and ready to learn!
Parent Tables in the Cafe
Visiting for Lunch:
We welcome family members to join their students for lunch throughout the school year!
In order to ensure that enough food is prepared, please send a note to your child’s teacher if you plan to purchase a school lunch. This information is needed in the cafeteria before 9AM. Parents planning to have lunch with their child should sign in at the office. Please make sure you have your license as you will scan it using our Ident-a-Kid System to obtain a visitor’s sticker. This system provides a quick license background check. Parents may then meet their child in the foyer as they go to the cafeteria. Due to FERPA guidelines, food allergies, and the safety of our students, you may only eat lunch with your own child. We ask that parents refrain from walking back to class with their students after lunch. Please check out through the front office at the end of lunch.
Update: We have tables for you to enjoy lunch with your child, teachers will be able to point these out to you. There will also be table tents that say, "Parents' and Guests' Tables" to show you where to sit.
