6th Grade Career Fair
This week, 6th graders across Fraser Public Schools were provided an opportunity to gain awareness about the career pathways they could pursue after high school & the courses they can explore next year at Richards Middle School as part of celebrating CTE Month in Michigan. Student leaders from the FHS Career & Technical Education program offered interactive experiences for students to have fun with while learning about careers in healthcare, education, industrial trades, business, marketing, culinary arts, programming, cybersecurity, & more.
Under the leadership of FPS Career Navigators Mr. Boyd, Mr. Hammer, & Ms. Webb, Ramblers worked with CTE teachers to develop activities that were age appropriate to help our youngsters understand how to begin crafting the skills necessary to achieve success in our community. Students enjoyed exploring welding with an augmented reality welding simulator. Engineering, robotics, & design were on display thanks to our team of Square One underwater drone operators & FIRST Robotics competitors. Our Future Teachers challenged youngsters to view the critical roles in education a bit differently with fun activities. HOSA Future Healthcare Professionals helped kids understand & attempt performing CPR while challenging others through playing Operation. Our DECA students even helped connect students with the value of money as they collected cash with their teachers', principal's, & district leadership's faces on the bills! Ultimately, our 6th graders had a great time starting the conversation about who they hope to become while they explore the resources & courses available across Fraser Public Schools that will lead them toward that goal.

Our winter band concert was held on Wednesday, February 15th at Richards Middle School. It was an incredible performance by our 5th and 6th grade students. Special thanks to Ms. Deshutter for planning such a wonderful event! Please find some pictures below.

6th Grade Night at RMS
Richards Middle School would like to invite you and your 6th-grade child to Richards Middle School on the evening of Thursday, February 23rd, at 6:00 p.m.
The purpose of this evening is to introduce you and your child to their future school, the programs offered, and the selective classes available to them. We will also provide our students with a tour of our building’s selective classrooms.
The program will start promptly at 6:00 p.m. Parents are to report to the RMS gym, where they will meet the administrators, counselors, and academic department heads. Students will gather in the cafeteria, where their tour will begin.
Our goal is to provide you and your child with a good understanding of our vision and mission at Richards Middle School.
Our RMS counselors will visit each elementary classroom beginning Monday, February 27th for the 2023-24 school year and Wednesday, March 1st to assist students in filling out their schedule forms. Students are to return their schedule requests to their 6th-grade teacher no later than March 5th.
Counselors will again help with inputting the course requests at the elementary schools beginning March 6th and March 8th.
