Sunset Valley Library Newsletter
November/December
'Tis the Season!
We have seen a lot of collaboration and special events taking place in the library these six weeks of school in November and December, from the fifth grade poetry slam to the middle school magnet program presentation and Covington Middle School Fine Arts Academy showcase. Our fall Scholastic book fair was the first week in November, and we got over 2,000 books into the hands of our Sunset Valley Cheetahs! November is Native American Heritage Month, so we recognized and honored Native American Heritage by reading part of In the Footsteps of Crazy Horse. November is also the Thanksgiving holiday, and we looked at what it means to be thankful during this season. Coming back from the Thanksgiving break, we are working on STEM through the Cardboard Challenge in preparation for our annual Academic Showcase January 18th. The last two full weeks of the semester I will be working on my annual inventory during which time I have to inventory all 16,000+ library materials. To this end: Please return all student materials to the library by December 15th. The 18th and 19th I will be celebrating with 1st grade in the library for having raised the most money during our Books for All change drive.
