World History: We’ve finally arrived at our first (and the world’s first) civilization! We’ve laid the groundwork. From here on out we will be focusing on individual civilizations in the ancient world and what we can learn from them and apply to our lives today. See you in the Fertile Crescent…

Pre-Algebra students are learning about exponents and scientific notation; Accelerated 6th grade students are learning about proportional relationships; and, 6th grade students are learning about unit rates and converting measurements. As we are quickly approaching the end of quarter 1, please make sure you are encouraging your student to check their grades often to ensure they have no missing assignments to be turned in. STEM Face to Face Learners
Our Face Learners are learning about real-world problem solving. In each grade, we have explored what recycling is, how recycling centers work, and some ways we can use recycling in our lives to create and invent new things! Our 2nd - 5th grade learners used a variety of recycled materials, including cardboard, craft sticks, twist ties, rubber bands and more to create new things. Students created boats, rockets, wearable fashion and more! Our K-1st grade learners used hands on manipulatives to continue strengthening their creativity and building creations in new ways, with new techniques. I am impressed with our growing vocabulary, as students correctly use terms such as “materials”, “design” and “improve!” Way to go, Engineers!
STEM Innovative Learners
Innovative STEM students are also working on real-world problem solving. Similar to the face to face classes, our Innovative Learners are exploring recycling and the terms “Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.” Our Innovative Learners will be challenged to create anything using recycled materials. How many recycled materials can be repurposed as a part of our engineering design? I can't wait to find out!
