Dear Parents,
Helping students do their best in school requires a team effort. Parents, students, and schools all play important roles in this process. To help all of us learn how to make your child's schooling experience as positive and beneficial as possible, we are asking you to please complete the Family Panorama School Survey. CMS Readathon
The Concord Magnet RAINBOW READATHON is in full swing! Dates are March 6-31! Students are encouraged to read for FUN not funds!!!
Week 1 Participants were treated to a Hot Cocoa Bar today!!
Here is an overview of the CMS Readathon:
- Students are asked to read a suggested number of minutes per week. (Grade K - 50 minutes per week, Grades 1 & 2 - 100 minutes per week, and Grades 3-8 - 150 minutes per week).
- Prizes will be awarded each week if the whole school meets the minimum weekly reading requirement.
- Every Monday a reading log will be sent home. It should be signed and returned at the end of the week.
Students were treated to hot cocoa today for participating in the CMS Read-a-Thon.
Parent/Teacher Conferences
Parent/Teacher Conferences are scheduled from March 14-29. Classroom teachers are in the process of contacting parents to set up conference appointments.

CMS T-Shirt Flash Sale!
We are running a one-week flash sale to give our families an opportunity to buy new CMS t-shirts. The t-shirts are white, short-sleeved shirts with the rainbow phoenix logo with the words Concord Magnet School, as pictured on Mr. T. Shirts are $18 each. Sizes range from XS - 4X. Shirts will be sent home in children's backpacks in 2-3 weeks after the sale closes.

Library Update From Mr. Duff!
- First Book Giveaway - It's back! Come grab free books on Saturday, May 20th from 11:00 - 3:00 at Norwalk High School. Volunteers needed! Click here to signup to help out.
- Students are starting to finish their Digital Citizenship lessons with me! Please check out this resource page to help your children stay safe online.
- Book Checkout Reminder - Books need to come back to school in 8 days or less (not including vacations). Books need to come back in good condition. Please encourage your children to read their library books to you!
- Norwalk Public Library - All students have a Norwalk Public Library account! It is linked through their school account. We encourage you to visit the NPL and/or look at their online resources. For more information, click here.
- There is still a lot of organization and signage left to do, so we are still seeking volunteers to help. Please contact Mr. Duff at duffc@norwalkps.org or Terry Lakin at lakint@norwalkps.org if you are available.

A Note from the Ponus Middle School Athletics Department
Coed Soccer tryouts are going to be the last week in March on the front field. Students will need cleats and shin guards IF they make the team. They are not needed for tryouts but are encouraged.
The dates/times are:
8th Grade - Tuesday, March 28th, 3:00-4:30
7th and 6th Grade - Thursday, March 30th 3:00-4:30
For Volleyball the dates/times for tryouts are:
6th Grade - Friday March 17th
7th Grade - Tuesday March 21st
8th Grade - Friday March 24th
All are at 3:00-4:30
Like the Fall and Winter, games will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays and will start around the last week of April.

CMS Silent Auction
Want a ride to school in a police car or be principal for the day? Or maybe VIP seats for 8th grade graduation? The graphic to the left lists just a few of the fantastic items available so far!
The CMS Silent Auction is our school year's biggest fundraiser! Our fundraising goal is $25,000. Join us at the Maritime Aquarium on May 6th from 6:30 to 9:30 pm for a silent and live auction. Come check out the sharks and fish while enjoying light bites and an open bar and bidding on amazing prizes and experiences! Tickets are $70.00 each. Bring your friends and family and have a wonderful night out. Non-CMS families are welcome to attend.

Auction Gift Baskets!
This is our school year's biggest fundraiser and we are hoping to raise $25,000, but we need your help! Please consider donating a gift basket for the auction. You can create the basket with your child, a few friends together or even your whole class! For the gift basket, please create a list of what is included in your basket and the estimated worth of your gift basket. All gift baskets are due by Friday, April 28th to the Auction Committee.

Help the CMS PTA raise money, while also clearing out your closet and helping the environment by keeping them out of the landfill. Sneakers also go to great use for resurfacing tracks! Drop off any sneakers that are now just taking up room in your closets! These sneakers will be reused (if in good condition) or recycled (to make track surface). CMS School Store!
The CMS School Store is now open! The store is run by our middle school students and is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings at 8:50 am. The School Store is selling erasers, pop-its, fidget spinners, bracelets, and other fun items. Each grade level is assigned a day to visit the School Store. The Store is located by Mr. Thomas' Book Nook.

Nearly 1,000 people packed the house at Brien McMahon for an incredible event that featured high-energy performances, informative presentations, and a whole lot of fun!

NPS Summer Athletic Camps
Registration for NPS Summer Athletic Camps 2023 opens on March 1. The fun-filled camps are open to students in grades K-12 and engage them in a variety of activities. The camps run between June 26 and Aug. 4.
