VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION IS DETAILED BELOW! THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO REVIEW ALL THE DETAILS PROVIDED.
1st-grade families, be sure to review the express check-out information if you are planning on taking your student with you following the concert!
We are very, very excited to share our music with you. Because this is our first attempt to showcase the talents of our 760+ students, we greatly appreciate your patience and understanding as we learn together on Friday, December 14. We look forward to building our collaborative community together!
Each concert will last approximately 25 minutes. Guests are encouraged to exit promptly to allow parking access for the next grade-level concert.
Both the upper and lower lots will be available for concert parking. We will open two doors (main entrance, door #2 and lower entrance door #5) fifteen minutes prior to the start of the concert.
We will offer early release after the last concert only. Parents attending the 1st Grade concert are encouraged to use the express checkout system if they wish to take their children immediately following the event. Parents can sign-up first-grade students and their siblings for express check-out using this FORM [http://bit.ly/BLEwinterconcert18]. Alternatively, you can print and send an End of Day Change Note to school with your child(ren). To ensure safety for all students, parents who chose not to use the express check-out system will be asked to exit the building and have their child(ren) use their normal end-of-day routine. Express check-out parents will meet their child(ren) in the Bay Lane Commons (cafeteria) following the concert.
IMPORTANT: To ensure bus access, all guests using the lower lot for the final concert will need to leave promptly. If you are planning on checking your child(ren) out early after the 1st-grade concert, you MUST park in the upper lot or use street parking!
Concert Wear: Please don’t make any special shopping trips for this day! Anything you might wear out for a nice meal or Sunday services would be just fine. For girls: Please no ‘Ugg’ type boots or slippers, and if wearing leggings, we ask that a dress or tunic-length top/sweater be worn with them. For boys: Please refrain from athletic wear or sweatpants. For all: We ask that clothing items do not have large logos on the front. Please, no hats, or other seasonal accessories that blink or light up.

Staying In for Recess
It's Cold Outside!
Please make sure your little ones are dressed appropriately for the weather each day. Students will be going outside unless the wind chill is below 0°, to allow them time for fresh air, exercise and fun! It is a great idea to keep an extra pair of socks and mittens in a pocket of their backpack in case the first pair gets wet during recess.
When snow is on the ground, please help students remember to have boots and snow pants with them at school. We also ask that students take these items home with them on the weekends to be washed. Thank you for your support.
Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS)
This week, staff members launched a school-wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) plan. PBIS focuses on proactively teaching appropriate behaviors that are consistent school-wide, have predictable language and responses from adults, and ensure a supportive approach to correcting misbehavior. Using the common school-wide expectations of Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be a Community, teachers will explicitly teach expected behaviors in various school environments. This week's focus has been behaviors during Special Events. Next week, teachers will focus on hallway behaviors.
Our school-wide Behavior Matrix can be viewed here. If parents are interested in creating a similar system at home, please contact our school social worker Deanna Welsh.

Deck The Wall
This holiday season we are decorating the Wall of Fame in front of Inpro Stadium with black granite tiles! These tiles are customizable and will remain on the wall for a lifetime. It's a great way to remember a former, current, or to-be warrior. Please place your order HERE, or send any questions to kate.brown@muskegonorway.org.
School Lunch and Recess Schedule and Menu
A message from food service:
Please make sure when sending in money with your child for hot lunch to clearly mark the students name in the "memo section" of the check or if sending cash write students name on the envelope. This ensures the money goes into the family account. Also, when sending money, please discuss with your child the importance of turning funds in right away rather than being held in backpacks, lockers, or folders.
