Washington Elementary School
Week of May 23, 2022
Dear Washington Families,
It is hard to believe we are at the end of our 2021-2022 school year! It was an unusual year with some twists and turns, but it was incredible year of learning, nonetheless. I am proud of of our students and all they have accomplished, in addition to the dedication of our teachers and staff this year.
I am also appreciative of our parents/guardians for all of the love and guidance you have given your child(ren) and the support you have given our school this year. Special thanks to our PTA and Volunteers - your help, encouragement and partnership go a long way to making this a special place to be. It truly takes a village to make a difference in the lives of our children.
Our office will be open August 3rd and class lists will be emailed out to each grade level before the office closes for the summer.
I wish you all a safe, relaxing and fun summer. See you in August!

Warm Welcomes and Warm Goodbyes
There have been additional changes to our staff since the last announcement. Please join me in both saying goodbye to and welcoming new staff for this next school year:
Ms. Montague's schedule has changed, and she will be working at another elementary school in the morning.
We will be welcoming Ms. Rosa Mickey as our new Orchestra Teacher. Ms. Mickey currently teaches orchestra at Roosevelt, Monroe, and Whittier Elementary.
Beginning next year, each school will have one full time music teacher and one full time PE teacher. Both Mrs. Henscheid and Mrs. Betterley will be teaching full time in other buildings next year.
We will be welcoming Ms. Kaycee Stevenson as our full-time music teacher next year.
Mrs. Rodes has accepted an Administrative position at One Stone High School. We will be hiring for our Library position soon.
Ms. Courtney Thomas has accepted a teaching position in Emmett School District.
Please welcome Michelle Brixey as our new Resource Room Paraprofessional. Ms. Brixey comes to us from Jefferson Elementary.
Ms. Linda Van Andel will be our OT for the 22-23 school year.
Field Day is Tuesday!
Field day is tomorrow! Morning field day will be from 9:30-11:20 for grades 4-6 and morning kinder. Afternoon field day will be from 1:00-2:50 for grades 1-3 and all day kinder.
We ask that students wear appropriate shoes for running and playing, bring a water bottle, and possibly sunscreen as we will be spending time in the sun. The park has lots of shade, but we will be spending some time in the sun as well.
BSD IT Reminder: Infinite Campus Parent and Student Portal Summer Access
This is a reminder that access to the 2021-2022 school year through your portal account will no longer be available as of Tuesday, May 31, 2022.
Summer school access will be available to summer school students and parents starting Wednesday, June 1, 2022.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Is your student returning to Washington next year?
If you know that your family will be moving over the summer, and your child will not be attending Washington for the 2022-2023 school year, please contact Ms. Barrett in the front office and let us know. You can send her an email at email@example.com or call at 208-854-6420.
If you moved out of the Washington attendance area and would like for your child to be considered for continuation at Washington, an Open Enrollment form needs to be completed. The form is on the District website. Kris Barrett can also assist with this process.
School Meal Update for the 22-23 School Year
School meals were free for all students during the SY 21-22. Congress has not extended these waivers for SY 22-23. Starting in August 2022, students will be charged for meals based upon their family application status.
If you think your family would qualify for free or reduced priced meals, you are encouraged to complete an online meal application. Applications will be available in early July.
Once determined, meal prices for SY 22-23 will be available on the District Food & Nutrition Services website.
