Principal's Post
Royal Oaks Elementary is proud to announce our distinction as an A+ School of the Arts. Our teachers have specialized training through the A+ Schools Network in order to weave the arts into every aspect of a child’s learning. It is our mission to use the arts as an inspiration for engagement, creativity, collaboration, and lifelong learning. At Royal Oaks Elementary School of the Arts we have talented and dedicated teachers who spend hours planning and creating learning experiences that will bring energy and excitement into the classroom, making learning truly fun and meaningful for our scholars. We utilize a hands-on approach to teaching and look for natural ways to bring the arts into every classroom.
Movement. Creative. Fun. Active. These are just a few of the words students have used to describe the Royal Oaks Fine Arts program. Students are not the only ones having fun in the classroom. Teachers are loving this new approach to teaching and learning and have commented they feel rejuvenated and excited about making their classrooms an engaging place to explore and integrate the arts.
What is arts integration?
ROES teachers are teaching the same curriculum as all North Carolina schools, but their delivery of instruction is through arts-infused lessons which makes learning more memorable and engaging for students. Data shows an increase in the retention of core content when taught through an arts-integrated approach and students are finding success in learning, which has been a wonderful self-confidence boost for many students. In addition to arts in the classroom, Royal Oaks also implemented a variety of after school clubs including pottery, photography, visual arts, chorus, strings, drama, Makerspace, dance, percussion, and Vex robotics.
Program Choice applications will be open from October 9th – December 18th. Please check out the Program Choice Website to learn more about the programs Cabarrus County Schools offer: https://www.cabarrus.k12.nc.us/programchoice
Come out and visit our Fine Arts table at the Royal Oaks Fine Arts Open House Event Night on November 29th from 5:30-6:30 at ROES. Bring a neighbor or a friend that may be interested in our specialized program!
We look forward to an exciting year at ROES, where our motto is – “Creativity sparks engagement. Art ignites learning.”
