From the Principal's Office
Good Morning Lancer Families,
Thanks to everyone who had a hand in making our 60th Homecoming Week a success. Our ASB Officers did a great job organizing the week, and all students got into the spirit of things with their costumes, their contributions to the Green Hole and by attending the Homecoming Dance. Parents, thank you for sending us such great kids!
As we slide out of Homecoming Week, we have two other important dates in front of us. The first is Unity Day on Wednesday, October 19th. Unity Day is an annual event occurring during National Bullying Prevention Month (October) that promotes joining together to create healthier communities through kindness, acceptance of difference, and inclusion. It was started by PACER's National Bullying Prevention Center in 2011 and is now celebrated around the world. There's lots of ways to get involved in Unity Day. Families should read through the resources that TOHS has available on taking a stand against bullying - you can access the list here. A good place to start is to wear orange on Wednesday as a sign of your commitment to end bullying!!
Additionally, from October 24 to October 28 is our annual Red Ribbon Week. Our PTSA will be supporting our efforts to get the national message out to "Celebrate Life and Live Drug Free." Given the numerous stories that we've been hearing across southern California about fentanyl overdose deaths, we will be giving Red Ribbon Week a lot of attention this year.
That's it for now, thanks for your ongoing support of our school.

Transcript Ordering
Seniors, now is the time to order your Transcript for college applications. Go to the TOHS main webpage and in the drop down menu under Counseling select Transcript Request Form. Complete the Transcript Request Form and bring with cash payment or bring Student Store receipt to Mrs. Amanda in the Counseling Office. Remember Cal State and UC schools do not require initial transcripts but Common App schools do. Check if schools you are applying to requires an initial transcript.
The Lancer Way
Beginning last year, many in our community have been calling for a reaffirmation of our school's Core values and expectations. This year, the TOHS Site Council wrote an action into its School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) to fulfill this request. After multiple conversations with the staff, students and our Site Council, we have finalized the Lancer Way. We will soon begin a PR campaign so that everyone in the community is aware of it. This will also be used as the framework of how we reward students points in our new 5-Star Students program.

Students - Check Your Grades Regularly!
Because we set aside time every Wednesday during 4th period SEL Time for students to check their grades, there should never be a time when a student does not know what assignments are due, or what they are missing. Students, if you don't know how to do it, ask your teachers to show you!

The Lancer Printing Center
Need to print an essay or other similar piece of school work for a class and don’t have a printer? Fear not! TOHS offers all Lancers access to the Free Lancer Printing Center. This is how it works: share your document (using your CVUSD Learn account) with TOHLancerLibrary@learn.conejousd.net (notice there is no S). Come to the circulation desk in the Lancer Library and once our library staff verifies it is school work, they print it, for free! You can access the Lancer Printing Center when the library is open (Mon, Tues, Thurs 7:30-3:30, Wed 8:15-3:30, Fri 7:30-2:30). Don’t forget, you will need a pass from your teacher during class time!
Student Athletics and Activities
Athletics
Athletic Contests This Week
Interested in Wrestling?
Wrestling is one of the Great Equalizer Sports. Anyone of any size, body type, sex, or ability can wrestle. If you are tall, short, heavy, light, big, small, male, female, fast, slow, hyper, kick-back; any extreme or anywhere in between, you can become a wrestler. There is no one 'type' of wrestler or wrestling body, so if you have an interest, we can use you for the 2022-23 Squad. The Lancer Wrestling Team is looking for anyone who would be interested in checking out the sport.
The best way to get involved is to go to room D-9 and speak with Coach Lyne in his history room. You can also email him at klyne@conejousd.org. for additional information. Or, we have a 6th period PE class that meets in the Boy's Activity Room, if you want to come and catch us there.
Athletic Tickets
Girls Wrestling is Looking for Interested Students
The Lancer Girl's Wrestling Team is looking to increase our presence in the Marmonte League. Last year we led the League with 2 League Champions. Girl's, did you know that the fastest growing sport in College is Women's Wrestling. Over the last year, and average of three colleges have added women's wrestling to their sports line-up every month.
There are currently 117 colleges, from NCAA D1 Universities to the Junior Colleges that offer wrestling programs for women, many with scholarship opportunities. These scholarships are available because of the small numbers of high school female wrestlers. If you would like a shot at an athletic scholarship to help you get into college, the Lancer Girl's Wrestling Team might be for you.
For more information, please contact Coach Lyne, TOHS history teacher, in room D-9 or at klyne@conejousd.org, or Coach Ritterbush at dritterbush@conejousd.org.

High Speed Internet for All
High-speed internet has become a necessity of modern life, which is why the Ventura County Office of Education is supporting a statewide effort to make it available to everyone.
The California Broadband Council is spreading the word that low-income families can receive a $30 monthly discount on home internet service and a $100 discount on a computer or tablet. There are about 80,000 households in Ventura County who are eligible for these discounts that haven’t yet applied.
More information about the program is available at www.internetforallnow.org.

TOHS Breakfast and Lunch this Year
Breakfast and lunch meal service will be available at all schools.
FREE MEALS FOR ALL STUDENTS
School meals for the 2022-2023 school year will be available to all students at no charge. Although all students will receive free meals through the duration of this school year, we request for all families to complete this Online Free / Reduced Meal Eligibility for School Year 2022-2023 form, as this form affects a variety of areas unrelated to school meals, including school funding, college application fees, AP Test fees, SAT fees, bus passes and more. Even if your child does not plan to eat school lunches, it is important to fill out this form to help ensure our schools and families receive the available resources.
You can complete the meal application online starting July 1, 2022. Please click here to complete the Online Free / Reduced Meal Eligibility for School Year 2022-2023 form application online. Paper applications will be available in the school's main office.
