The Drowning Sophomore
"The only real change comes from the inside" - J Cole
"Just keep swimming" Dori
You will make it through this year. The only question is whether or not you will want to look back on this year or forget it all together. It comes down to how much you choose to participate. It is your life - be your best you!
The Advice You Gave Me
I asked the IS classes to share what helps them get their work in on time. The answers aren't surprising and I'm sure you could have guessed the majority of responses so....what's stopping you?
#1 answer: "DON'T PROCRASTINATE"
You can't argue with these responses and expect to win or succeed:
"Start the assignment or project as soon as it is assigned"
"Do larger assignments or projects in small chunks when you have time"
"Try to do most of your projects in Independent Studies class"
"Just do your work and make sure you turn it in"
This year you are being assigned more work than in previous years. It's a rare person who can 'just remember' all of them so...:
"write your assignments down in a calendar or a post-it note or someplace you look at consistently"
Personally, I love this response because I've found it to be true more times than not:
"just sit down and force yourself to do it because once it's all finished, you won't have to stress about it"
YOUR RESUME
I will be in your IS classes presenting the third week of pretty much every month.
This month we'll get have you write a resume. I'll start by showing you my 10th grade resume!
