The WJHS Panther Update
December 1, 2023
Principal's Letter
Panther Families,
And just like that, it's December and our first semester is quickly ending! If you haven't already done so, now is the perfect time to log into Otus to check your student's progress. If there are missing assignments, we encourage students to get them completed and turned in before Winter Break.
If you're in the mood for some holiday shopping this weekend, you are definitely going to want to stop by our High School Band's Annual Craft show! It's open from 9 am-3 pm and there is always a wide variety of vendors for your shopping needs. Be sure to check it out, who knows you may find that perfect gift!
Please join us in CONGRATULATING our December Students of the Month:

Great job, kids. Keep up the excellent work, we are so proud of all of you!!
Student Reminder - Chromebooks should be charged and ready to use every day. Please remind your child to charge them the night before so they are ready to go the next day.
Westmont Holly Days - Let the festivities begin!! Holly Days is kicking off TONIGHT with its first event, Snow Much Fun! This jam-packed night full of activities is bound to get you in the holiday spirit. Check out the Holly Days Event Calendar for details.
Student Council Fundraiser - Our Student Council will be selling World’s Finest Chocolate bars for $1 until December 22nd. Choose from six different flavors. What a great opportunity to spread some cheer to your teachers, family, and friends.
Outdoor Education
It’s time to start planning for our 6th grade Outdoor Ed trip! 6th grade Parents, students, and families are invited to join us for an Informational Meeting on Mon., Dec. 11 , 7:00 p.m. in the WJHS Media Center. There is no obligation to attend. Join us to hear what OE is all about! Questions? Please contact Jen Burisek (jburisek@cusd201.org).
Graduation: While it may seem early to talk about graduation, we are already speaking with students about their academic standing and the SSLC hours that are required to walk the stage. As the semester comes to a close, Ms. Quattrone and Mr. Lipinski will be meeting with parents/guardians of students who are currently in jeopardy of not participating in graduation activities.
Industrial Arts needs your help - Mrs. Stobl is still looking for donations of 2 X 4's (at least 24in. please) for a project she is working on with our 8th graders. If you have any you would like to get rid of, she will gladly take them. You can contact astrobl@cusd201.org to make arrangements to drop those off.
From our PTO: Holiday Treats for Our Teachers and Staff - Your Contributions Needed!
As the holiday season approaches, we're planning a special way to show our appreciation for the hard work and dedication of our teachers and staff. We would love your help in bringing holiday cheer to them!
