Park Terrace Elementary
February 2, 2022 Newsletter
Greetings Park Terrace Families!
It is a festive time of year for thinking spring! Yesterday, February 1 was Lunar New Year which marks the beginning of the new year in the lunar calendar. Celebrations mark the beginning of spring and the end of winter. And, today is groundhog day! As exciting as the possibility of an early spring seems, we all know winter is going to keep us in the cold for a lot longer than that groundhog can imagine!
Yesterday, we hosted our kindergarten information night. It is always such a joy to see those young students entering our doors, perhaps meeting their future kindergarten teacher and getting a feel for our school. I am so glad to see them, and I hope their families found the event informative, helpful and fun! Thank you to everyone who attended last night!
We continue to see declines in COVID cases and absences for both students and staff. This is great news for our entire school, and I am happy to see things moving in the right direction. I am also happy to report that in spite of the latest surge we‘ve kept our SPARK programming going, which I know our students appreciate. When I speak with our students they always say that SPARK is there favorite part of the week (along with recess and gym, of course!)
At the halfway point in the school year, we are thinking about and planning for next year. In case you missed it, see a roundup of planned enrollment, grade-level transition and registration events that are continuing this month. If you’re interested but not able to participate in a scheduled event, we have staff always happy to answer questions and make connections.
Have a great rest of the week, Park Terrace!
Sincerely,
Mona Perkins
Principal
