The Dove's Nest
The Official Newsletter of SKTCS
Week of March 23rd 2020
We hope that you are faring well in our new normal. During this time you should have received the log-ins and websites that your students access on a regular basis at school so that they can continue working at home. These sites are self-monitoring, so there are no "assignments." Students should work as long and as often as is appropriate for your family. Please remember that during these stressful times your students will benefit from a schedule, clear expectations, and at least 2 hours of academic work per day. This unexpected time off is also an opportunity to teach life skills - how to prepare a meal, tie your shoes, count money, tell time, write a letter to a friend or relative we are social distancing from, gardening, learning to roller skate or ride a bike ... these skills are as important as any classroom lesson in ensuring complete development. Students should continue to limit their tv/gaming time to 2 hours a day as well creating a well-balanced day.
PACK, Packets, and Food Trucks
We also want to make sure that we are taking care of our SKTCS community's academic and physical needs. On Friday March 27th, 2020 from 10 - 3 pm we will offer drive-through service for families to receive learning packets and PACK bags. From 12 - 2:30 we will also distribute fresh produce and free farm-to-table food courtesy of the LOKI food truck.
We will operate the same as carline and we ask that all families please stay in their cars. This will work best if arrival is staggered. The busiest times will be the beginning and the end.
Again, we hope that you are taking care of yourselves, and it is our honor to take care of you, too.
The Butterbraid Fundraiser was a success!
Over 50 families participated raising over $2200 to go towards keeping field trips free next year. Congratulations to Phatima Maxwell for having the highest student total with $490.00 in sales. Way to go, SKTCS!!!
