Mrs. Greene's 3rd Grade
October 26, 2018
A Successful Week!
This week FLEW by... It always does when you are as busy as we are!
Report cards were emailed home today. A few thoughts about 3rd Grade Report Cards:
- There used to be room for teachers to comment on each individual standard that is being assessed. You will see that this went away. I liked having this space to comment, because it gave more details about why I gave your child the score he/she received.
- There is room for a general comment under each SUBJECT, but there is a 160 character limit. It is hard to be specific using only 160 characters. I sure tried, but if you have further questions, feel free to email me.
- When I scored each standard for your child, I put a lot of thought, gathered much data, and fit the puzzle pieces together to paint as accurate a picture as a could. I don't take report cards lightly because it is the only way to accurately help you understand your child's progress in 3rd Grade.
We will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week from October 29-November 2. Our theme this year is “Strong Together Against Bullying and Drugs”. We will be discussing ways to keep our bodies healthy, as well as several concepts such as respect, courage, problem solving and conflict management. We will have activities and discussion at school to celebrate this fun week. We will also have two dress-up days to help kids get in the spirit of the week: Wednesday kids can wear RED and Thursday students can wear their favorite team jersey as we “Team Up Against Drugs”!
I have a meeting next Wednesday, October 31. I will be out 1/2 day in the afternoon. I try to let parents know when I know I will be out in case something were to happen at school and I wasn't aware.
That's it for now!

Quote of the Week - Landon
Community Circle
A few highlights from our morning Community Circle time:
- We each made an old-fashioned fan out of paper. We passed our fan around the circle and students wrote reasons they were a FAN of the person.
- I showed the video below. I absolutely love it! We need to do all we can to make our children appreciate the differences in ourselves and each other.
