CHAUCIE'S PLACE, SMART STEPS - BODY SAFETY PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN
The Chaucie’s Place, Smart Steps: A Body Safety Program for Children presentations will take place September 29 for kindergarten, 2nd grade and 4th grade students at FCE.
This program has been a part of many of our Hamilton Southeastern elementary schools in the past, as well as in several other Hamilton County school districts.
We would like to invite you to attend a parent meeting at Lantern Road Elementary on the evening of September 22nd at 6pm to provide you with additional information about the presentations. This presentation is for parents only.
The 30 minute presentations will be given within each classroom by a trained Smart Steps presenter. All Smart Steps presenters have completed background checks. They share a scripted, age appropriate presentation so the same message is communicated to all students in their grade level. The teacher will also be in the classroom during the presentation.
4th grade only: After the classroom presentation, 4th grade students will have the opportunity to mark “Yes” or “No” on a piece of paper to answer the question, “Do you need to talk to someone because you or someone you know was touched on a private part of the body for no good reason or to play a game?” A Smart Steps presenter and Mrs. Meyer, our school counselor, will follow up with each student that marks, “Yes.”
These presentations will be provided to all kindergarten, 2nd, and 4th grade classes. Although not required, each child’s attendance in the Smart Steps Body Safety program is strongly recommended. If you have any questions or do not want your child to participate in the program, please contact school counselor, Mrs. Marna Meyerat mmeyer@hse.k12.in.us or (317)594-4180.

iPad/Student Fees are Now Viewable
iPad (rental if applicable) and student fees are now available to view in Skyward. Fees are due by September 23, 2016. You can view your student’s fees in Skyward Family Access under “Fee Management”. Families have two options for payment of student’s fees:
· Option #1 – a check payable to FCE for the amount posted in fee management can be sent in with your child. Please indicate your child’s name and student ID number in the memo field. Your student’s ID number can be found in Skyward (your children also know this as their lunch number).
· Options #2 – pay via eFunds. There is a link to eFunds within the “Fee Management” section of Skyward on the upper right corner under “District Links”. Please note first time user will need to register in the new user area, you will also need to know your students six-digit student ID number. You can also click on the link here: https://eps.mvpbanking.com/cgi-bin/efs/login.pl?access=55481 If you have questions, contact FCE Treasurer, Holly Owens.
FALL CREEK ELEMENTARY CHOIR
The choir is open to any 3rd or 4th grade student who loves to sing! The choir will meet on Tuesdays and Fridays at 8:00 am in the Music Room. I know other groups also meet on Tuesdays and I am flexible with attendance so that students can have multiple opportunities. We have several performance opportunities planned for 1st semester including Veteran’s Day, a Holiday Program, and our Caring and Carols outreach to senior citizens. The first rehearsal will be on October 4 at 8:00 am in the Music Room. Students do not need to pre-register for Choir.
