The Special Area Team would like to welcome everyone to the 2018 - 19 school year! This year promises to be a great one with so much to learn. All students in Kindergarten through 5th grade will come to each Special Area class approximately once a week where they will learn about a variety of topics. Personalized learning will be utilized as each Special Area teacher will work to incorporate activities, research, and lessons to help the students gain a better understanding of the subjects being covered in the classroom such as: Math, Science, Social Studies, Writing, and of course…Reading. Each Special Area teacher will collaborate with classroom teachers throughout the school year and will use a universal behavior plan to encourage classes to follow the Bobcat Rules. It is our sincere goal for each student to learn and grow in the way that allows them to be the most successful.

Greetings Bobcats and welcome back to the 2018 - 19 school year! I hope everyone had a wonderful summer and did lots of reading. This year the learning is going to flow in the Library with all of our research, projects, activities, and lessons focusing on S.T.R.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, READING, Engineering, Arts, and Math) in an effort to make year-long connections to the classroom. Not only will students work to increase their love of reading, but they will work towards not just consuming information, but creating with it! The beginning of the school year will find everyone learning the rules, procedures, having their picture taken for a new Student ID, and checking out books. This year students will experience Personalized Learning, STREAM Projects, 3 Book Fairs, and so much more!
MUSIC
I am so excited to be your elementary music teacher again this year! This year we will be exploring, applying and engaging in all the elements of music. We will showcase each grade level in three various musicals throughout the year. Our fourth/fifth graders are first up with their performance on Thursday, October 25th, Second/third grade will perform on Thursday, December 13th and Kindergarten/first grade will wrap up the year with a performance on Thursday, March 21st. I can't wait to continue, or begin, our journey in music with each and every one of you!
PE
Welcome Back to 2018-2019 Physical Education!
Our goal in Physical Education is to prepare each scholar to succeed and achieve the level of fitness for their age, and to make healthy choices and feel enthusiastic when participating in different physical activities. Students will develop a positive attitude toward physical activity and healthy lifelong habits. Students are encouraged to have fun and enjoy PE while learning skills necessary to pursue competitive and lifetime sports. Students will participate in various levels of activities including: cooperative games, relay races, gymnastics, golf, and fundamental motor and locomotor skills. Third grade will have a field trip to First Tee of Charlotte after completing the golf unit by learning the core values.
Every scholar/athlete is encourage to wear shoes that cover the entire foot and have a non-marking rubber sole to P.E. class and Recess.
I am looking forward to a FABULOUS Year!
