Our September Distribution Day is tomorrow!
Grade level specific items will be distributed. ALL Grades, K-5: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm & 3:00 - 6:00 pm.
The process will mimic what we did back in August. Before heading to school, we ask that you write all student names and grades on a piece of paper and have them displayed in your front or left side windows. We ask that you then enter the car pick up lane off of Franklin Street and pull up as far as you can towards Paddock Street. Once you come to a stop, we ask that you pop the trunk. A supply crew member will then place the materials in your trunk. You may then proceed towards Paddock Street and exit the pick up lane by making a right hand turn.
Our Virtual Parent Night was a Success!

Family Contact Information
When we are able to transition back to in-person learning please carefully consider who you choose as an emergency contact. Contacts should be adults who are available during the day and have transportation should it be necessary to pick up your child(ren) from school. If necessary, please contact your child’s school to update your information.
Library Book Return
Hello Husmann Families,
Welcome back to a new year of learning! We still have some students that have books checked out from last year. There will be a tub for library books at the front door near the main entrance of the school from 7:15-3:45 pm, Monday through Friday. Please ring the bell to let the office know you are dropping off books in the tub. No need to label the books, the barcode will indicate who had the book checked out.
If you are unable to stop by during those hours, please email me at; tmserra@d47.org, and I will help you make other arrangements.
Thank you SO much for your support of the library and please know we are working hard to get a variety of reading materials to your students and will continue to do so. READERS ARE LEADERS!

The Morning Announcements
Please keep the feedback coming! We really enjoy doing these for our Husmann Community each day. Our goal is to give our Cougars something to look forward to, as well as possibly get to know a staff member a little bit better and finally to think about being safe, respectful and responsible while in Remote Learning! The National Days are a fun way to cap them off and we absolutely love receiving and then re-sharing photos of our Cougars enjoying those special days!
Should you wish to share any photos, please email us at Husschool@d47.org. Feel free to always share your pictures on social media with the hashtag #forward47 & #HUSpride as well!

Food Distribution
Dear families:
On August 31, 2020, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Illinois State Board of Education announced a decision to extend the free summer lunch program for students under the age of 18. Starting September 15th, District 47 will provide FREE grab-and-go breakfast and lunch for students (regardless of free/reduced lunch status) who live within District 47 boundaries. The program is expected to continue through December 2020 pending funding availability.
Given this change, there will be no need to continue pre-ordering meals or provide student identification during pick-up. Starting September 15th, District 47 will distribute food weekly on Tuesdays at two D47 schools. Meals will include both breakfast and lunch items for the week with an option to reheat and serve some items at a later time. See below for details:
FOOD DISTRIBUTION
Dates: Tuesdays (starting September 15, 2020)
Times: 7:30am-10am; 3pm-6pm
Locations:
Hannah Beardsley Middle School (515 E. Crystal Lake Ave.)
Canterbury Elementary School* (875 Canterbury Dr.)
*New distribution location: east entrance by food pantry
For everyone’s health and safety, food will be distributed as a “drive-up” service. Parents/guardians will be asked to drive up to the distribution location at the school and open their trunks so bags can be placed there rather than inside the car. If your child has any food allergies, please check the nutritional labels on food items.
Lunch menus
Lunch menus can be accessed via the District 47 mobile app and are also available on the Sodexo website:
Free and reduced lunch applications/fee waivers
Families who believe they are eligible for free and reduced lunch for their student(s) are still encouraged to fill out an application on the District 47 website. Note: Families must be approved for free lunch prior to being eligible for fee waivers.
Questions about food distribution can be directed to the District 47 Business Office at 815-788-5021.
