Maltby Messenger
June 17th Edition
~A message from our Principal~
Dear Families,
We made it. The end of this school year is here. What a year it has been! We could have never guessed what this past year might look like. We were resilient and flexible. We learned how to do new things and grow new skills. How thankful I am for your support and willingness to walk this pathway with us! As we close down this year, please remember to turn in items borrowed from school. Items to turn in:
· Chrome books
· Chargers
· Any overdue books
We are accepting chrome books until 2:30 on Monday, and then again, from 5-7.
Report cards are being mailed home on June 23rd.
Updated calendars for the next three years are on the Monroe School District website. They will show you when school begins and where the breaks are.
Class information will be available at the end of August.
As we close this year out, I want to thank each of you for the gift of sharing your children with me and making Maltby an incredible community. May your summer be full of laughter and joy.
Fondly,
Bonnie McKerney
Dear MVLA Families:
The end of the year is here and it is amazing how fast time has flown. I have so enjoyed seeing your students grow and learn this year. With just over one week left, I want to share some important information to support you as we move towards summer.
Thank you for your help in getting your child logged onto iReady these past several weeks. Students have done an amazing job completing lessons and their iReady diagnostics. I am so proud of their hard work and academic growth! Please encourage your child to continue iReady lessons over the summer.

· Grades K and 5 10:30 – 11:25
If you cannot make your suggested time or have children in multiple grades, please feel free to come anytime between 9 and 11:30. When you come, please bring the following:

If you are planning to move this summer or are leaving for a vacation prior to the last day of school, we would like you to return the above items to Maltby Elementary or the District Office. Please communicate your plans with your child’s teacher.

Moving???
Welcome to Mrs. Mohler's Kinder Camp
We know this year has been very difficult, and we are developing plans to support our students as we prepare to move into the new school year. To ensure our plans meet the needs of students, we are seeking input from families on what you see as the most relevant needs of your students and feedback on our Summer Program Plan and Academic and Student Well-being Recovery Plan. We know this year has brought many surveys your way but these two surveys are very important and we thank you in advance for your participation.
Access the surveys here: Student Well-being Survey
Thank you again for your support!

Students will be screened in the late spring and summer and may qualify based on need.
Families interested in having their child participate in the Transitional Kindergarten program should complete an online application. Forms received by June 1, 2021, will receive priority. Learn more here.

Free and Reduced Lunch and Discounted Internet
While we are currently offering FREE breakfast and lunch to all students, the funding for this program has been extended through June 2021. We know that each year many of our families qualify for free or reduced price meals and it is very important that families who may qualify fill out the annual application in order to receive free or reduced price meals for the remainder of the school year.
Meal Applications can be found on our website and can be submitted in-person or online here. Once you submit an application, you will receive a notice in the mail as to whether your child/children can receive free or reduced-price meals. If approved, your letter can help you access the K-12 Internet Access Program. Every eligible form that is not submitted means lost resources for your family and our schools.
If you qualify for free or reduced price meals, you may also be eligible to receive free internet service at your home. If you qualify for the free or reduced price meal program, you will receive a letter of approval. Once you have this letter, and if you are interested in the free Internet Access Program from the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), please contact Brenda Hunt at: huntb@monroe.wednet.edu or 360.804.2500 (English) and Olga Flores at: floreso@monroe.wednet.edu or 360.804.2570 (Spanish) to receive the name of the internet provider and the offer/promo code to sign up for free internet. You can find more information on OSPI’s internet program here.
