After School Program

What happens when there is a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the school?

If a USD 225 staff member or student tests positive for COVID-19 and has been at work or school within 48 hours of developing symptoms or being diagnosed (whichever occurs first), the Meade County Health Department will notify the school officials immediately and determine who has been in “close contact” and must be quarantined for 14 days. They are the official contract tracer for the district.


Whether or not an entire class is required to quarantine will depend upon the degree of separation consistently maintained between staff and students in a particular classroom or activity. The Meade County Health Department will be the entity to make all notifications. Secondary contacts (those living in the house or in close contact with those quarantined but not testing positive) will NOT be ordered to quarantine and may continue to attend school/work.


Unless there is a widespread issue, communication regarding exposure will be done by the Meade County Health Department. If you hear of an exposure and you are not contacted by the Meade County Health Department, you should assume that you or your child/student have not been exposed or ordered to quarantine.

Meals

Free and reduced meal applications must be submitted each school year. If you have not already submitted a new application for the 2020-2021 school year, please contact Erica Rarden at (620) 646-5661or email at erarden@usd225.org to have an application mailed to you, or an application can be sent home with your child.


The USDA and KSDE have extended the summer food service program for Kansas schools. USD 225 has accepted this waiver and will operate on this program until December 31, 2020 or until funding runs out. This means that students enrolled in Fowler Schools can receive free breakfast and lunch each day. Once this special funding is eliminated, the district will transition back to our regular School Nutrition Program, and meals will be charged accordingly. Please remember to have an updated free/reduced meal application on file with the district.

Homecoming 2020

Fall 2020 Homecoming candidates were Nate Cunningham and Angelica Mendoza with Jahim Ross and Morgan Durbin being crowned king and queen. Kindergarten escorts were Wesson Whitney, Bridgette De La Fuente, John Milford, and Bailey Padgett. We are thankful we were able to hold most of our traditional homecoming activities with additional safety measures in place!

Focus Friday

Focus Friday is being offered every Friday from 9:00-11:00 a.m. in the middle school SDL Lab for 6th-12th grade students. Students can use this opportunity to get help on their regular assignments or make-up work.

Eligibility Contracts

Grades are reviewed every Monday morning, and students who are failing or behind in their classes will receive an eligibility contract. The contract will specify which subject is low and specific tasks that need to be completed that week in order to remain eligible for extracurricular activities. The contract will also state that the student needs to stay after school one day for Aspire or attend Focus Friday to receive academic help.


The student and their mentor will review the contract together on Monday. The parent/guardian will also be e-mailed or mailed a copy of the contract.
