Join us for a Special Edition of our May Dine & Donate: McKinley at Don Pancho’s
Don Pancho’s has been wonderfully supportive of McKinley and Petaluma schools in the past. Now, they need our help. We are switching our scheduled Dine and Donate to a “McKinley at Don Pancho’s” event.
Grab some takeout and maybe run into some McKinley friends while you are there on Wednesday 5/20.
Take photos of your family sharing dinner and we will post a photo collage of McKinley families eating together (but separately). Email photos to PTA presidents

We hope you encouraged your student to submit an entry to the PCS 2020 Virtual Innovation Showcase by 5/17.

STUDENT LOANER BAND INSTRUMENT RETURN!
If your student has been using a District Loaner Instrument this year, please return it along with any loaner music books & stands to your school site. Band Teachers will be at school sites next week.
We will follow the safe collection protocols that have been put in place by the District:
Parents may drive or walk up to the collection table.
Only one person/family at a time should approach the table for drop-off.
Remember to wear a face mask.
Maintain social distancing of 6 feet at all times.

Did you fill the Distance Learning Survey sent out by the PCS?
f you haven’t done so, or haven’t received the PCS email, please take a minute to fill out a short survey created by the PCS district.
This is your chance to send feedback on your Distance Learning experience as a parent and report which areas you think were great and what could be improved in the future.
Please do also encourage your student (3rd grade or older) to fill out the student survey too.
The Mustang Social fundraising totals are in!
Once more, our McKinley community stepped up and showed it’s amazingly supporting spirit. The PTA had budgeted a net fundraising goal of $23,000 for The Mustang Social spring fundraiser. We raised over $25,000!
We are genuinely thankful to all the families, teachers, and community members that have supported this fundraiser in numerous ways. We would like to express our gratitude to all the families that we're able to donate the amount they had already paid towards their tickets to the dinner that had to be canceled. We raised over $3,000 thanks to you!
Mrs. O’s Library Corner : Book Return
It's that time of the year, I am in the process of trying to get the library books back. It is very important that the students who will not be returning to McKinley next school year bring their books back by the last day of school.
The following are available times to return library books:
- Box drop off (there will be a box set up in the breezeway labeled Library Book Return): 9 am-2 pm Monday - Friday.
-Handoff to a person: Thursday 5/21 (12-2 pm) or Thursday 5/28 (12-3 pm).
-Bring them the last week of school when students will be picking up/dropping off supplies.
My hope is to get as many books back and checked in before the last day of school as possible.
Take good care,
PTA meeting outcomes
Thanks to everyone who was able to join our zoom PTA meeting. It is so important for your voices to be heard!
We would like to highlight three items addressed during the meeting:
*The PTA has received a partial grant from Raley’s to purchase 2 water filling stations (pending District installation). We thank you, Julie Petersen, for writing the grant.
*Mrs. Larson would like to purchase portable handwashing stations to place around campus and the PTA approved funding for 3 stations to be purchased over the summer.
*Due to the uncertainty derived from the current pandemic, the PTA plans to craft a very conservative budget for next year but we are so happy to get these projects done for our community.
*Online Petaluma Regional Library Card lets you enjoy Sonoma County Library free electronic resources (tutor.com, books, movies, music, etc). Library Facebook page with storytime videos, crafts for teens and tweens, science experiments, etc.
