Candy Gram Sale!

This Friday and next week, students will be able to purchase a candy gram from our Roo Buddies and send a special note and treat to a friend. Candy grams will be on sale each morning for $1. Students need to know the name of their friend and grade level (preferably the student's teacher as well). Candy grams will be delivered each afternoon.

Class Holiday Parties

Class parties will occur on Friday, December 17th and we will have early dismissal at 11:45AM on this day. Teachers will communicate class party details to parents. All class party food donated must be store bought.

Library Update

Library Updates:

Our book fair was a success!! We raised almost $7,000 dollars and sold 645 books! Because of this, our library will receive a $2,000 gift card from Follett to purchase new books for students to check out and read! Also, thanks to generous donations from our community, 102 students were able to get a free book from the book fair! We cannot thank everyone enough for supporting our book fair!

We would like to congratulate Ms. Mercado’s 1st grade class, Ms. Smith’s 3rd grade class, and Ms. Martin’s 4th grade class for purchasing the most books from the book fair. Each of these classes has earned a special library party to thank them for purchasing so many books.

Austin Public Library Update:

Most students have received their Austin Public Library card from their teacher or during their library visits. If your child still hasn’t received their APL card, you may contact Newton Collins Librarian, Amy Gonzalez, at (512) 386-3914 or at amy.gonzalez@dvisd.net or you may call the Austin Public Library at 512-974-7475. Check out this FAQ page from the Austin Public Library for more information.

Lost & Found

We have a lot of jackets in our lost and found! Classes will visit the lost and found next week so that our lost items are returned to their owner. We will donate all lost and found items on December 16th. If you would like to come visit the lost and found, you can do so after school beginning at 3:30PM. Please ring the front bell for assistance.

Dismissal

Thank you to all our parents for adjusting to our new dismissal line up for car riders. We appreciate you lining up along Apogee Road as Finnial Road and Moonbeam Road (behind the school) remain closed.

Please make sure you have your student's car tag displayed in your dashboard at pickup. If you need an additional car tag, please visit our front office and present your ID to be issued a new one.

  • If you are going to change how your child goes home, please communicate this with the front office by 2:00PM
  • If you are going to pick your child up from school before dismissal, please pick them up no later than 2:30PM. To ensure the safety of our students and that everyone gets home, we will not pull students from classrooms after 2:30PM.
  • Parents are prohibited from pulling a student off the bus at dismissal.
  • Students will be released during the school day only to persons listed in Skyward.
