Grade: 4th grade
Teaching Practice: Flexible Seating
Summary: Mrs. Buffetta has created a student-centered environment by creating flexible seating options for her students to work and learn. Mrs. Buffetta noticed that students in past years had a difficult time staying seated, enjoyed standing while working, needed frequent breaks to stay focused and that most of her students enjoyed having a choice in learning. So... Mrs. Buffetta designed her classroom to meet the comfort and needs of a variety of learners by allowing students to choose from a variety of seating options that include, office chairs, bean bags, stools, standing options, padded crates, balance balls and many other cozy, creative options. Students select their seats daily and have been very excited and motivated about their choices and about having input into their classroom design. Way to be flexible in your practices, Mrs. Buffetta!
