Welcome Back Slate Ridge!

It is hard to believe it is now 2019! We hope you all had some relaxing down time with your friends and families! Hopefully we all took time to unwind and enjoy the holiday season. Please know, that we are here to support this wonderful community in any way that we can. If you ever need anything please contact your child's teacher, or the front office staff at 614-501-5500.

Let's have a great 2nd semester Toucans!

Open Enrollment

Please remember, if you move out of district but still prefer your child(ren) to attend Slate Ridge, please go to the Welcome Center on Graham Rd. within 10 days of your move to apply for open enrollment status.

Attendance

Just a reminder that being in school every day and on time is extremely important. Due to HB 410, we now must monitor the amount of minutes and hours that a child misses each day. This includes tardies and early dismissals, we will begin sending all calls out to families when your child has hit a trigger.

We are here to assist you in getting your child to school, if you need support or receive a letter from us please call Beth Uhlenhake at 614-501-5516 or Teresa Spangler at 614-501-5500. We are here to help!

Click the link below for more information on HB 410.

Severe Weather Procedures

We are now heading into our second semester as well as the cold weather season. Please follow Reynoldsburg City Schools personnel on Twitter in order to be made aware of school cancellations due to inclimate weather. If school is in fact cancelled, we will post on Twitter, send out an all call, post on Facebook, the district website and on the local news channels. Please be sure to update us with new phone numbers!

Arrival and Dismissal

Thank you for continuing to follow our arrival and dismissal procedures. We have noticed a huge improvement from last year. Thank you for keeping one another safe!

  • The front doors are NOT open until 7:50; please do not leave your child(ren) unattended before this time as there is no supervision and the weather can be severe.
  • Please use the loop around the flagpole for morning drop-off. You are also welcome to park and walk your child to the sidewalk, DO NOT drop off students in the parking lot; this is a major safety issue and is not permitted. If you are not wanting to get out of your car, you must use the car rider loop.
  • We STRONGLY ENCOURAGE all vehicles to enter and exit Slate Ridge using the Taylor Rd entrance. The rear of the building leading out to Harvestmoon is congested with school buses. You may not pass a school bus on school property, if you choose to exit through the rear exit you must follow the buses off of school property and into the neighborhood. This is a NO PASSING zone.

Treats

Just a reminder about celebrations and treats at school; as a safety precaution we no longer allow families to send food items to school for birthday/celebration treats. We highly encourage non-edible items like pencils, erasers or something that students can play with or use in class.

If there is a time where extra food items are to be provided by the school we will be sure to send a permission slip home with your child so that we have your consent and permission to feed your child outside of the typical cafeteria breakfast and lunch menu!

Thank you for your cooperation.
