Arctic Light K-8
September 9-13, 2019
Hi All,
Our PEAKs scores from last spring are quite noteworthy. Last year's extra efforts by our staff and students are reflected in many ways and notably by these PEAKs scores.
Arctic Light student ELA proficiency scores are up from 2017= 37% to 2019= 53%. As a comparison, UPARK's ELA scores grew from 2017= 46.5% to 49.8% in 2019, which is a more typical growth pattern. On top of all the changes our staff engaged last year, these scores reflect monumental educational shifts.
Another way to look from 60,000ft at our scores, science PEAK scores are reflective of our students' dinner table talk. At Upark their science proficiency is 53.6% which is above their ELA. Arctic Light science proficiency is 40.9% a 12% drop from ELA. That 12% bump is directly linked to teacher and student efforts.
ELA 2019 PEAKs School Proficiency %
- Anne Wien - 20.3%
- Barnette - 49.1%
- Denali - 27.4%
- Ladd - 50.4%
- Pearl Creek - 55.4%
- Tic Brown - 35.7%
- Weller - 54.8%
- Upark - 49.8%
Celebration is in order. Friday's lunch was fun. There will be more.
When you have time, reflect upon what helped last year. If there are answers, please share and if there are ways we can help, share those too.
Excellent work. The parents and students are lucky to have you as teachers.
From everything I'm seeing and hearing... we're well on our way to another great year.
Thanks for all you do,
Thad
