Humility
We've had a good week reintroducing and helping our students grow in HUMILITY. I would love to hear any stories you have of how your child has talked about HUMILITY, if you've heard them saying We > me, or done their out of school action this week at home. Just a reminder, here is what each grade was committing to:
-6th graders are working on Ask a family member how you can help them this week
-7th graders are working on Support a team or club that you don't normally support this week
-8th graders are working on Have at least 1 meaningful conversation with a parent or guardian this week
Thank you for encouraging your child in these this week! We are looking forward to growing in RESPONSIBILITY next week!

Important Info for 8th Grade Parents
Beginning in the 8th grade, each student is required to develop a 4-year education plan that will assist them in determining the types of classes they would like to take over the next 4 years of high school. This is a plan that will be reviewed and revised over the next 4 years to reflect the changing interests of your student. It is important to note that this is not registration for classes, simply a planning guide for you and your student.
During the student’s Career Prep class (or individually if they don’t have Career Prep) we will be working on developing your student’s education plan. Students can participate in career planning activities and creating 4 year plans on the Alabama Career Planning System (ACPS) which utilizes Kuder Navigator. Kuder Navigator is a system combining research-based assessments, portfolio development, education/occupation exploration and planning and workforce preparation. Through the system, your student can take brief assessments to discover his or her career interests, skills and confidence levels.
We encourage you to take an active role in assisting your student with developing their plan. Kuder makes it easy for parents/guardians to be involved with a free parent account that your child can invite you to join. The parent account gives you the opportunity to take a system tour, view your child’s portfolio and education plan, access messages and an informative parent guide. Attached you will find instructions on how your student can invite you to join their Kuder portal as a parent.
Over the next 4 years we encourage you to remain active in your student’s post-secondary planning process. If you have any questions regarding the use of ACPS and Kuder Navigator please contact your school counselor or career coach.
