From the Principal

Dear FMS Families,

We have had a wonderful week of celebrations, transitions and community. We have brought back many school traditions, and started some anew. Students have met their teachers for next year and our 5th graders have spent time at their new school, EMS. We welcomed our new 3rd graders. Students have attended field trips and played together.

We have also started to mourn a member of our 5th grade community. Monday was a tough day for many students and staff as we processed the news of Addi Carroll's death. Many students shared beautiful memories of Addi. We miss her dearly.

The 5th grade celebrated the end of the year by taking a field trip to Spare Time. On the way back to school, they saw the beautiful rainbow below. Some students remarked that they felt like Addi was with her class that day.

Summer brings changes of routine for many families. Whether your child participates in formal summer learning or not, here are a few guidelines to consider to help maintain your child's learning this summer.

  • Stick to a routine
  • Read at least 20 minutes per day
  • Listen to audiobooks
  • Limit screen time

We look forward to welcoming you all back for the 2022-23 school year. Please reach out with any questions and have a wonderful summer!

Sincerely,

Sara Jablonski

Schoolwide Fun Day

Fun Day was a blast! We started our day with a schoolwide meeting, in which we shared our class commitment video. All classes had a chance to dunk a staff member in the dunk tank. We ended the day with a staff relay. There were smiles and cheers all around.

Move UP Day

Move up day was a success! Students were excited to see their new learning spaces and classmates, and meet adults they will work with next year.

WE will miss you!

We have a number of staff who are moving on, either through retirement or new job opportunities!

We first want to acknowledge Lorie Lambert's retirement from FMS. Lorie has worked as an Instructional Assistant at FMS for 27 years. She has touched the lives of thousands of children. Lorie is a dedicated professional who has always gone above and beyond to support her students.

We will miss Kim Kedzierski, our FMS registrar as she moves with her family to embrace a new adventure in Arizona. Thank you for your dedication to our FMS students, Mrs. K.!

Best of luck to the staff below who are also moving on to explore new opportunities:

Kelsey Algiere, Instructional Assistant

Emma Blatt, Instructional Assistant

Patty DuBray, Librarian

Roxane Frobel, Substitute Specialist

Paula Palermo, Math Intervention Specialist

Brenda Pratt, Student Supervision Specialist

Anna Senesac, Behavior Interventionist

Change in Arrival Time for 2022-23 at FMS

While we will be sharing all of our arrival and departure procedures in summer communication, I wanted to share one important change for 2022-23.

The school day will still operate from 8:00-3:00.

Parent drop-offs will start at 7:45 am for 2022-23, instead of 7:30 am. This brings us in alignment with our other schools that have an 8:00 start. Thank you for understanding.
