Hawk Highlights
October 6, 2021
Dear Hollys Families,
As Principal Drvenkar shared at the beginning of the year, one of our goals is to bolster student and school safety. We honor this important goal through the following measures:
· Review and implement district policy, procedures and practices
· Provide daily vigilance and assign supervisory duties for all staff members
· Enhance our application of crisis and safety procedures at The Hollys https://iloveuguys.org/The-Standard-Response-Protocol.html
· Promote a caring community and effective discipline system
· Use a consistent and defined PBIS system with explicit training and communication for teachers, para-educators, and parents
· Strengthen the Hollys’ community partnerships with law enforcement and CCSD security specialists
Recently, in thoughtful partnership with our CCSD security specialists and local law enforcement, the Hollys conducted a very successful Lockdown Drill. In the event of a Lockdown Drill, staff and students practice, “Locks, lights, out of sight,” during which time staff members secure the building and students move away from sight, maintain silence, refrain from opening doors and prepare for further guidance.
As a part of the aforementioned I Love U Guys Organization, during a Lockdown Drill, staff members practice communicating in real-time with CCSD security specialists and local law enforcement using a RedBag Quick Response (QR) Code. The RedBag kit is available in every single room in each school building. Each Redbag kit serves as a communication tool and includes more than a dozen items designed to assist with a wide variety of medical emergencies. You can learn more about these efficient resources here: CCSD RedBags.
We are so proud of our students and staff for engaging in these practice drills with the utmost professionalism and diligence, as we take these opportunities very seriously to best equip us to respond expeditiously in emergency situations.
Upcoming, we have Fall Break the week of October 18 – 22. Hopefully, this week off offers families time to rest and rejuvenate. Next month, The Hollys will be hosting Fall Conferences November 12, 15 and 17. We look forward to collaborating with you, as your child’s experience and education is our top priority. More information will be provided in the near future.
Our door is always open for any concerns, questions or ideas you may have, so feel free to call or visit anytime.
