A Message from Principal Bare
Dear AHS Community,
It was such a treat to spend time with many of you in student led conferences, preparing for next year. We appreciate your partnership as we support students and families in reaching their goals. We were also blown away by our supportive community once again as they showed up in force for career day. We had a huge number of presenters, all of whom opened the doors of possibilities to our students. We are so grateful. A special thanks to Amy Schumacher for her expert coordination of this special event.
The afternoon was a powerful opportunity for our 9th and 10th grade students to explore issues related to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. They participated in rich discussions and explored how they can contribute to a more welcoming and inclusive AHS. Juniors planned for their final year of high school, while seniors began planning for graduation coming right around the corner!
On Monday, there is no school as staff will be engaged in professional learning. Staff will be focused on better serving all of our students, including training in Cultural Agility 201 and Culturally Responsive Teaching practices.
I am grateful for your continued partnership and support of our mission to Inspire Learning for Life!
Erika

Grizz Pageant--April 12 at 7pm
GRIZZ PAGEANT 2019
MARK YOUR CALENDARS!
April 12th 7pm Mountain Avenue Theater
Grizz Pageant's preparation and fundraising is in full swing and we couldn’t be more excited!
Grizz Pageant one of the highlights of the year! This fundraiser event gets eight incredible students from each grade to compete in raising money for Asante Regional Medical Center and Children’s Miracle Network. Not only are these Grizz contestants using this next month to hold numerous forms of individual and group fundraising, but it is all in anticipation for the pageant itself!! A night showcasing talent, humor, dance moves, and more, these grizzlies will give you a peak into their lives, provide entertainment and create memories to last a life time. Two contestants will be crowned: one for raising the most money and one for their Pageant performance.
All of the proceeds raised from their fundraising pursuits and donations at the event will go towards cutting-edge technology for Asante's NICU to help premature babies!
Let's meet this year's contestants!
Our 9th graders: Davidson Graham and Anna Gutrich. Our sophomores: James Le Fond and Gabe Giancarlo. Our juniors: Sequoia Jacobson and Sam Austin. And our seniors: Nicky Clary and Richie Sommers.
With all that being said,
We invite you to come out and support their upcoming fundraisers!
March 14th: PIE DAY!
At the beginning of the two hour lunch (11:10-1: 00) donating participants will get the chance to pie their favorite Grizz Pageant contestant in the face. The higher the donation the closer your pie throw can be to the Grizz contestant. But wait, there's more! Students will also get to bid on the opportunity to pie a select teacher during this fundraiser, as well!
We hope that you come out to support our Grizz Pageant contestants at their fundraisers and Pageant event, but more importantly help make a different in the lives of the wonderful premature newborns at Asante Regional Medical Center.
March 16th: CAR WASH!
North West Pizza. Grizz Contestant will be selling car wash tickets this next week for $5. Ask a contestant you wish to support for car wash tickets or pay at the car wash.

Senior Projects Presentations--May 1
Spring Presentations will be held on Wednesday, May 1st.
Senior Projects are an important opportunity for AHS Seniors to explore subjects and interests in ways that challenge them and encourage them to go above and beyond anything they have done before. Senior Projects also teach students the importance of giving back to their community and sharing their knowledge and experiences with a wider audience. These projects are shared in a formal presentation setting where students have a chance to discuss not only what they accomplished but also their journey over the last four years of high school.
