Students fill the hallways with excitement, fun, learning, and laughter! Our staff is dedicated to each of the student and we are responsive to needs.

We continue to work on ways to bring up our student/s and show them they each MATTER! Thank you for continuing to work with your son/daughter to bring his/her best to ensure we have great days at Hilltop!

A Message from Mrs. McDonald

It is with bittersweet emotions to inform you that my last day as the Park and Hilltop Elementary Principal will be on Friday, October 29, 2021.

I began my journey at LSH in the Fall of 2012, and now my time will close in the Fall of 2021. It has been an amazing 10 school years. Le Sueur-Henderson has become my home, and I am going to miss you all dearly. Thank you for sharing your children with me. Thank you for always supporting the schools of Le Sueur-Henderson.

Mrs. Rittmiller and I would like to introduce the newest member to LSH, Mr. Darren Kern. Darren is an experienced school leader and undoubtedly will be an excellent addition to LSH. To learn more about Mr. Darren Kern, please read his message, found below.

Yours in education,

Christine McDonald

A New Admin Change starting November 1 - Welcome Mr. Kern

LSH Families, It is a pleasure to introduce myself to you and express how excited I am to be part of the team at LSH. I am in my 29th year in education. I have been blessed to have met and worked with so many wonderful students and their families over the years. The last 20 or so years I have worked as an administrator. During my time in administration, I have served as a Superintendent of Schools, a Principal, a Director of Pupil Services, and a Coordinator. Prior to my calling in administration, I taught at all levels and have enjoyed all of them immensely. I believe that all kids can achieve at high levels and I work very hard with students, their families and staff to make that a reality. All of our children have unique talents and it is our job as educators to help unlock those talents. Personally, I have two adult children. My son Alex is 22 and graduated last spring with his B.A. in Accounting. He is currently working on his M.B.T. at the University of Minnesota. Alex will begin a full-time job as an Accountant in January. My daughter is 20 years old and is a Junior in College and is on scholarship to run cross country and track. She is studying to become a Clinical Psychologist. In my spare time I enjoy fishing, golfing, and most anything outdoors. My big passion lies in Gopher Football. I have been a very long-time season ticket holder with my son and my father. Spending that time together is something that cannot be replaced and I cherish it a great deal. I look forward to getting to LSH and getting to work. My door is always open and I sincerely enjoy hearing from our families and our community. Please, introduce yourself, and I will do the same. Go Giants!

Students will be collecting NEW pairs of socks, gloves and winter hats! Our student council is working hard to provide student opportunities for service projects.

Cooler Weather Coming!

Please be sure to bring extra layers of clothing daily. Students will be outdoors daily.

Bus Evacuation and Bus Safety

Park & Hilltop Elementary students have already had bus evacuation and bus safety. Please remind students of safety, good choices and the privilege it is to ride the bus.

Chromebooks at Hilltop

  • All students have been able to take chromebooks home for homework!
  • After our MEA break, we will no longer be borrowing chromebooks to students who have forgotten chromebooks at home for the school day. Students will be doing work without technology.
  • If a student has forgotten his/her chromebook 3 or more times, we will ask that the chromebook stays at school.
  • We are trying to raise independent learners and thinkers! We will not be calling parents to bring in forgotten chromebooks.
