GO COLTS!
Week 1 Conquered - Week 2 Here We Come!!!
I would like to thank everyone for their hard work this week! It was great to see so many teacher collaborating and coming together to conquer the start of school. Remember, your second week is just as important (if not more so) when it comes to holding high expectations in your classroom. You started the week off strong so make sure you stick to your routines/procedures while delivering good first instruction.
Department Meetings this week
We will continue to work on backwards planning this week in our department meetings. Please do not be late and come professionally prepared. Here is a reminder of days/times:

Tracker Goes Live
The tracker will go into effect this week. Please make sure you are explaining the process to your students so they understand how their choices may have a negative or positive outcome. Remember, the tracker does not replace your classroom management plan, but should act as a reinforcement tool for holding students accountable for habitual poor behavioral choices. This system will only work with strong collaboration within each grade level.
GREAT JOB ON TARDIES!
Everyone has been doing exceptionally well with ensuring students are getting to class on time. Instructional time is such a precious item at school so thank you so making this a priority!
KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

DOLS/EXIT TICKETS/LESSON CLOSURES
As we get accustom to the bell schedule be sure you stay aware of how you are managing your time each period. You must ensure you are leaving enough time to execute a measurable lesson assessment so you can gain data on student progress towards your lesson objective.
As we stated during in-service we expect that no less than one DOL per week be in the format of Short Answer Response (SAR). This is across ALL contents. Please be using the SAR rubric that Ms. Smith shared with you to grade these.
We all know that our students need to be reading and writing every day so be prepared for an increase in SAR DOL expectations during the year. This is all the more reason we want you to practice now.
You may reference TEI domain 2.2 for specific metrics on DOLS.

No FLY Zone / Bell;to Bell Instruction
Remember we have the following period on no FLY Zone:
- 1st Period
- 4th Period
- 7th Period
There should be no students in the hallway during these times. Also, we should see very few students using classroom passes to go to the restroom. Tell your students they must use the restroom during the passing period.
BELL TO BELL Instruction
Remember, to be teaching up until the bell each period. Do not line your students up at the door minutes before the bell. Instructional time is sacred so please do not waste a minute of it.
