Gradual Release of Responsibility Observations

Here's a confetti celebration for the following members of our team:

Renee Head "had a very effective think-aloud during her mini lesson. Students were highly engaged and saw excellent modeling from their teacher."

BJ Linne facilitated collaborative small groups where students "knew their roles and shared their wonderings with each other. Students took initiative to ask questions and find answers together."

Brittani Martin facilitated collaborative small groups were students "were taking turns and using appropriate language to communicate effectively with one another."

Soo Son had evidence of her focused lesson. Her students were referring to the clear learning target on the board next to her anchor chart. While she taught a small group, students were grouped in collaborative learning groups they facilitated and engaged in independent practice using e-CLASS to apply their learning. Keep it up!

Q12 Gallup Employee Engagement Survey

To date, we have 43/59 who have given input using the Q12 Gallup Survey. That leaves 18% of our team that can still share their thoughts before the survey closes on Monday, October 5. I truly value and use your feedback, so please look for this link in your inbox and take the survey before this closes.

Thank you!

Thank you to all of our classroom teachers and front office staff for supporting student safety in the cafe. Your willingness to pitch in and create a rotation that works for your team and our school demonstrates your professionalism and commitment to doing what is best for students in the cafe. We look to welcome another monitor in the near future, but this transition will be slow. Please continue the schedule you began on Thursday. Updates will be sent to keep you informed.

ESPLOST

On November 3, voters will have an opportunity to go to the polls. ESPLOST (Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) funds capital projects that support Gwinnett County Public Schools and Buford City Schools, such as building projects and technology retrofits. This ESPLOST is not a new 1-cent sales tax. It would continue the current 1-cent sales tax for 2017-2022. For more information, please go to our website and click on the link to learn more about ESPLOST.

Voter Registration

Early Voting: Starts on 10/12 from 8am-5pm

Oct. 5 is the last day to register to vote for the upcoming election. You can register to vote at Suwanee.

Absentee and Early Voting begins Oct. 12.

CLT and Professional Learning

In your CLT meetings this week, you can use the Analyzing the AKS template on the C&I tool as you start with the AKS. As you think about e-CLASS as a tool, how will you incorporate your learning with Dee Dee on Thursday into C&I for student usage?

For professional learning this week, we will discuss a focused lesson (mini lesson) with Melissa Dienhart in the Mind Meld room. If you have not viewed the video on the C&I tool under Language Arts Staff Development folder, please do so prior to Thursday.

ILT Meeting-Thursday, October 8

ILT Leaders:

Please plan to meet in the Mind Meld room at 3:00 PM on Thursday, October 8 for a called meeting. We will discuss student management plans/procedures regarding the cafe, hallways, and dismissal. If your team has solutions or proposed plans for any or all of these topics, please bring them with you. In the interest of time and efficiency, we will use a protocol to facilitate this discussion. Thank you in advance for your leadership and preparation.

October 12 Professional Learning Day

Before the end of the week, the agenda for our October 12 Professional Learning Day will be posted on the Suwanee Training Page in an October 12 PL folder.

Early Release Data Summary

Thank you all for turning your data into Dorothy Brown-Townsend in a timely manner. Based on the results from our school, we had 538 conferences held compared to 636 students enrolled. How wonderful!

If you have a parent in the remaining 16% who did not receive a conference, please continue to reach out to them for a meeting or a progress call so they are partners with you in their child's education. We need all of our parents engaged at Suwanee.

E-CLASS Teacher USAGE: Leaders at Suwanee

This graph shows the usage of e-CLASS at Suwanee by Teacher. The size of the bubble equates to the number of times the teacher logged into e-CLASS and the shade of green illustrates the minutes of activity. Using the LOCC, MOCC, etc., during CLT meetings impact your e-CLASS usage. Our goal is 100% of teachers using e-CLASS each week.

Student usage is at 46%, and we are striving for more than 50% as a school. Please think about what your student graph would look like if you had the illustration below for them.

If you need support with using e-CLASS, please reach out to Dee Dee or Lara.
