St. Columba Catholic School - News every Friday - 1/29/21
Well we can officially add a downpour of hail at dismissal time to the list of things that have made this school year crazy! Thank you to all of the K-8 families for your patience on Friday as dismissal became quite the adventure!
As we conclude this week and move into the next, we are moving into a very special week for our school. This upcoming week is Catholic Schools Week. Across the nation, our Catholic schools come together to celebrate what makes us special. This upcoming week, we will be celebrating our faith and our parish community, our parents, our students, our teachers, and our grandparents. We will also be highlighting our 8th grader, Alex P. as part of our service focus for this week. Our school would not be the special community of faith and learning that it is without all of these essential components and we are excited to celebrate them this week!
As we celebrate what makes our school great, we will also be kicking off our re-enrollment process for the 2021-2022 school year. We have already opened up our admissions process for new families and next week we will start having our current families begin enrolling for next year.
Finally, I know many of our families are enjoying travel, particularly up to the snow, around this time of year. As a reminder, if you leave San Diego County or are gathering in large groups, you must submit a negative COVID test for your child before he/she returns to school.
Here is a look ahead at the upcoming events on campus:
- Monday, February 1: Parish Appreciation Day
- Tuesday, February 2: Parent Appreciation Day
- Wednesday, February 3: Wear Yellow for Alex P. Day (Jeans for $1); Teacher Appreciation Day
- Thursday, February 4: Free Dress for all students; Student Appreciation Day
- Friday, February 5: Preschool 1/2 Day; K-8 1/2 Day; Grandparent Appreciation Day
Blessings,
Mr. Amann
Catholic Schools Week!
Please see the document below to see what is planned for this wonderful week!
Update to County of San Diego COVID-19 Testing Requirements for Schools
According to the most recent Decision Tree provided by the County of San Diego, a negative ANTIGEN COVID-19 test result cannot be used to permit a student back to school campuses. If a student has a negative ANTIGEN test result, he/she must also receive a negative PCR test result to return to campus.
Typically speaking, most rapid tests are ANTIGEN tests. These will not suffice for a return to campus.
The ONLY way a student can return to campus if they present symptoms is a negative PCR test (which are used at the County Testing Sites) or 10 days at home without symptoms.
Thank you for your understanding.
How to Access Tax Documents from FACTS
If you need to access your tax documents from FACTS, please see the document below for the steps to follow.
Tuition Assistance Application Open
This year, any family that wishes to receive any amount of Tuition Assistance, including Diocesan Tuition Assistance, must apply through FACTS. In the past, this process was through a different provider, but we have brought everything in line through FACTS, the same provider we use for Tuition Management.
Families applying for tuition assistance will need to complete an application and submit the necessary supporting documentation to FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment by February 26, 2021. Applicants can apply online by clicking the FACTS link at https://online.factsmgt.com/signin/3CY5Y.
Once an online application has been completed, the following information will need to be sent to FACTS to complete the application process:
- Copies of your most recent Federal tax forms including all supporting tax schedules.
- Copies of supporting documentation for Social Security Income, Welfare, Child Support, Food Stamps, Workers’ Compensation, and TANF.
All supporting documentation can be uploaded in pdf or jpeg format online. If you have questions or concerns about the application process, you may speak with a FACTS Customer Care Representative at 866-441-4637. I have also attached a flyer from FACTS with other helpful information.
Please remember that we will only provide tuition assistance to families that apply for assistance. If you do not apply, we will not provide tuition assistance, regardless of the amount of assistance you may have received this year.
Report Card Delay (5th-8th Grade)
We were able to get report cards out for Kindergarten-4th grade. We ran out of time on our half day on Friday to get out 5th-8th grade report cards. Those will go out on Monday.
