What Is Tetanus?

"Tetanus is a serious illness caused by Clostridium bacteria. The bacteria live in soil, saliva, dust, and manure. The bacteria can enter the body through a deep cut, like those you might get from stepping on a nail, or through a burn." (MedlinePlus)


  • Mild lock of the jaw
  • Spasms in the Chest, neck, back, and abdominal muscles.

Tetanus can not be passed on by people, but a person can get infected with dirt entering a wound or a cut. (Wiki)


There are 2 kinds of Tetanus, mild and severe these are some thing you should take to help.


  • "Tetanus immunoglobulin IV or IM.
  • Metronidazole IV for 10 days
  • diazepam."


  • "Magnesium IV to prevent muscle spasm." (Wiki)


Vaccination with tetanus toxoid every 10 years for adults. DPT vaccine which also includes vaccines against diptheria and petussis. 7 and up should TD vaccine (tetanus and diphtheria) commonly used. And by talking with your doctor about the vaccine. (Wiki)


In 1884, Arthur Nicolaier isolated the toxoin of tetanus.

In 1897, Edmond Nocard showed that tetanus anti-toxoin induced passive immunity in humans.

In 1924, P. Descombey created a toxoin vaccine and was widley used to prevent tetanus in World War II. (Wiki)

Effect on the human body systems.

  1. Digestive- It can effect the system.
  2. Excretory- The nutrients gets taken out of the body.
  3. Respiatory- It get's really hard to breath do to the back and muscle tightning.
