TMS Weekly Update 2018-2019

May 3rd, 2019

Sliding into May

Another week in the books and we are under 30 days left. So much to do and so little time....

We move into math MCAS next week for the 7th and 8th grade on Wednesday and Thursday. Please schedule appointment accordingly. I am hoping for the same effort we saw with the ELA tests. Thanks kids for your hard work.

8th Grade Dance Coming!

We are starting a new tradition with our end of the year dance for eighth graders. Parent volunteers are hard at work putting together a list of items that the dance requires as well as a volunteer list for the night of the dance. Yes! your children will allow you to be here for the dance (but please no dancing!). 7th grade parents who might like to volunteer to see what it will all be about for next year are welcome to assist in any way. 8th grade parents look for an email with this Sign Up Genius link coming your way soon.

4:00 pickup

If you are picking your child up from an afterschool activity at the same time as the late busses are arriving, please park in the lot to wait and not in the bus line.

8th Grade Writing Phenom

Eighth grader Elizabeth Chenelle was awarded an honorable mention in this year's Letters About Literature reading and writing contest. The contest is open to all students in grades 4-12. Students write to an author (living or dead) about how that author's work affected them personally. Letters are judged on state and national levels. Tens of thousands of students from across the country enter year. Elizabeth wrote to Lynda Mullaly Hunt, the author of One for the Murphys. Elizabeth's letter was recognized as one of the top ten in the Massachusetts from an eighth grader. Great work, Elizabeth!

Babysitters Needed

The Tyngsborough Town Meeting is May 21 at Tyngsborough Elementary School at 7 p.m. There is a need for babysitters to allow parents with young children to attend the meeting. Please let the TMS office know if your middle school student is willing to help out.
