Labay Eagle Express (October)

A Message from the Principal

We're excited to welcome back so many of our Labay Eagles to the campus! ! Our Labay faculty/staff has worked hard to prepare for an amazing and successful school year! We also believe that the success of our students is dependent on the partnership we have with our parents. Our goal is the same - do what's best for each of our Labay Eagles! Thank you, parents/guardians, for your continued support and partnership!

F.O.C.U.S. - Focusing On Challenges Until Successful!

We are off to a tremendous and positive start to the school year! We appreciate your continued support! Our students’ success relies heavily on a strong partnership between the school, our parents, and our community. Our number one goal is to provide quality instruction to our students, which will help launch them into their future successes.

Our campus is aware that the COVID pandemic has created academic/skills gaps for many of our students. Our goal is to help close those achievement gaps by providing additional instruction to meet the individual needs of our students. After all, our number one priority is to ensure our students are set up for future success. F.O.C.U.S. (Focusing on Challenges until Successful) is a campus-based initiative that provides additional instructional opportunities that will help address the academic skills some of our students need to be successful on their classwork, assessments, and state testing.

If your child received an invitation to participate in our F.O.C.U.S. program, would you please make sure he/she returns the 3:1 waiver form? The forms were mailed home, and your child was given another copy at school. THANK YOU so much to those students who have already submitted their waver!

If you have any questions, please feel free to email Leslie Thomas at, or you may call her at 281-463-5800.

This art piece is inspired by the contemporary artist Jen Stark. It was created in collaboration with over 200 Labay student arts. When we work together, we can do remarkable work!

This art piece stretches along the wall of our main hallway. We are so proud of our young artists!

Thank you to our amazing art teachers, Ms. Morris and Ms. Gilmour!

Message from Attendance Office

Dear Labay Parents,

Just a friendly reminder that instruction starts at 8:00 a.m. daily. Students who arrive between 8:00 a.m. - 8:10 a.m. are considered tardy. Students arriving after 8:10 will be considered absence for first period, and will need an excuse note. Please note, a student arriving on a late bus will not receive a tardy.

If your child is absent from school, please send a signed excuse note, or doctor’s note (if available) at the time the student returns to campus. All excuse notes must be provided to the campus within three (3) days from the date of the absence or last date of the consecutive absence.

A phone call or email will not excuse the student’s absence.

Students with excessive absences and/or tardiness will be referred to the districts truancy officer.

Lastly, our campus does not release students for early dismissal after 3:00 p.m. If your student needs to leave early, please provide a signed note with your students information, date and time of release and who will be picking up your student. Have your child deliver the note to the attendance office by 8:00 a.m. to receive a pass for early release.
