Kimball Hill

Weekly News: Week of 10/31/22

Message from Mrs. LaCamera

Dear Kimball Hill Parents,

We are so proud of our students for demonstrating such exceptional behavior this month. The students were so excited to celebrate meeting our monthly goal through our school-wide Bingo. We also had the pleasure of recognizing many individual classrooms with a trophy for exceptional behaviors in their specials' areas. Pictures are attached below.

Thank you to our hard working PTA for coordinating such a fun family event. Our students, staff and families really enjoyed the Trunk or Treat! I must say we have some very creative parents. A big thank you to all of our families that were able to come support our school and THANK YOU to our parents who decorated their trunks! Without you, this amazing event would not have been possible! Pictures are attached below.

A big shout out to Mrs. Franke for coordinating our school book fair and to all staff that volunteered their time to help! Thank you to all of our families that attended. We appreciate your continued support! Pictures are attached below.

As a reminder, Monday is Halloween and students are allowed to wear their costumes to school. Please make sure the costume is school appropriate and follows our costume guidelines (see below). If students would like to bring their costume and put it on over their clothes before the parade, they are welcome to do that. We will also be having our Spirit Week next week and hope to see all students and staff paticipate!

As always, please feel free to email me any time or call the school for assistance at 847-963-5200.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Warmly,

Michelle LaCamera

Halloween Celebration and Costume Reminders

We are excited to celebrate Halloween again in a more typical fashion this school year. Please kindly take a moment to review our plan and expectations for Monday, October 31, 2022. We look forward to a memorable and fun celebration for all students!

1:30-1:45 pm-Students in grades Pre-K-6th grade will parade outside in their costumes. Parents are welcome to view the parade from the grassy area outside back, behind the yellow line. This is weather permitting ONLY and will not be rescheduled outdoors if we experience inclement weather. The parade will be moved to indoors if it becomes inclement for students only. We are hoping that Mother Nature cooperates.

1:45-2:45 pm- Students in grades Pre-K-6th grade will have a classroom Halloween Party following the parade. The parties are sponsored and organized by our PTA and our parent room reps. Only parents who are signed up to help with classroom parties will be allowed to participate. Students will be dismissed from school at 3:05 pm.

AM Kindergarten ONLY

9:45-10:00am parade on blacktop

10:00-10:45 am class party

Students are welcome to wear their Halloween costumes to school for the day. We have moved away from students changing during the noon hour or going home to do so. We look forward to students being able to wear their Halloween and/or fall gear for the day at school. We strongly encourage children to wear costumes that are comfortable and appropriate for school. Students will NOT be allowed to wear costumes that do not meet the guidelines. Please review and follow the below guidelines when choosing a costume this year. If your child does not celebrate Halloween, please email the teacher and your child will go to the library and can participate in a fall independent activity.

Page 22 - Parent/Student Handbook

Per the Student Handbook: Students are permitted to wear costumes on Halloween as long as their attire complies with the above student appearance policy and meets the following set of expectations for a school setting:

  • Children should not wear bloody, gruesome, or especially scary costumes. Costumes involving fake blood are not allowed.

  • Actual weapons, look-alike weapons, toy weapons or weapon-like objects are not allowed.

  • Masks that cover the face and head are not allowed.

  • Costume make-up is allowed provided it does not cover the student’s entire face. Staff members must be able to identify students.

  • Costumes that could be offensive or perpetuate a stereotype about someone’s culture, gender, heritage or religion are not allowed.
