Principal Parker Weekly
July 29, 2021
Welcome to #TheTRWayForward 2021-22!
Welcome Back! This is a repeat of my message from last week, and that is actually intentional. There is new information further down in the newsletter from our PTA!
Believe it or not, it is time to think about starting a new school year at Taylor Road Middle School. The assistant principals and I have been busy getting ready for the students' return and are looking forward to a great year!
Remember to follow us on Twitter @TaylorRoadWay and @Proud_Tigers and on Facebook for updates. We will also continue our traditional Messenger newsletter, along with weekly principal emails. You can always find more information on our website.
The following is some important information to help you get your child off to a good start for the 2021 – 2022 school year.
Schedule Verification Day – Friday, August 6th (9:00 AM – Noon)
The first hour is the busiest and comes with the most traffic. Consider having your visit later in the window. Students will be directed to their homeroom to receive their daily schedule. There will also be information stations in the halls and cafeteria for numerous groups and our PTA. More information to come!
Taylor Road is accepting fee payments exclusively through the On-Line School Payments website. Lockers and agendas can be purchased in advance, and receipts will be forwarded electronically. Be ready to show your receipt to homeroom teachers for lockers. Agendas are not required to be purchased from Taylor Road – feel free to shop for your own style!
- School hours will continue to be from 8:50 – 4:05. Students will not be allowed in the building prior to 8:30 unless it is a pre-set help session with a teacher.
- We will continue to have one-way hallways and rotundas. Signs around the building indicate these directions and teachers will introduce and reinforce the expectations with students over the first days of school.
- Students will have lockers this year and so bookbags will not be allowed in hallways or classrooms.
- Schedule changes will only be considered if they meet the following criteria:
o Changes based on a student’s IEP or 504 plan.
o Changes in or out of a year-long music class.
o Changes based on incorrect level placement
for Language Arts, Math or World Language.
o If you have questions about your student’s schedule, please contact the grade-level counselor.
- We will be implementing a new process called Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) that addresses school expectations for staff and students. Please see the introductory letter from the PBIS Team (attached).
Again, I am eager to see and meet all of you. I look forward to a rewarding and productive year at Taylor Road.
I am so excited to share with your family #TheTRWayForward!
I love my job!

Join the PTA Now!
Hello Parents and Staff,
PTA Membership is now open! Go to the Store and Forms tab in Membership Toolkit, and then to the Membership Store!
Why join PTA? We'll tell you . . .
🎉 PTA Membership and dues support your child/students by funding essential educational and curriculum needs, advocating on behalf of children and educators at the local, state, and national levels, and building an inclusive school community for all families. We invite you to join the TRMS PTA for your child because increasing our membership—even by one—makes it possible to provide important educational resources, speak up on important issues, and create a stronger school community . . . and a rather FUN school community too! Take a look at a few of the PTA highlights from just last year! 🎉
Parents, we ask that you join at least at the Silver Level if you are able to because that amount is how much our activities, events, and sponsorship costs per student per year.
💡 Also, we know that the organizations that are able to flex and pivot are those that remain valuable to their members. Especially now, we'd love YOUR ideas for how to best enrich this school year for all of our stakeholders. If an older or younger child's PTA or a neighbor's or colleague's school PTA is doing something really neat and new, please share this with us. We always want YOU to have a role in shaping your PTA! Please email our President, Ed Keichour, with any ideas or questions (firstname.lastname@example.org). 💡
Please log into Membership Toolkit, go to the Membership Store, and join us as Members and partners for the 2021-2022 School Year!
Thank you for your support,
Your TRMS PTA 🐯💚
